As a middle class, hard working blue collar guy, who is speaking for me and others like me?

We are the ones paying for all this non-sense, yet where is my envoy? We are the backbone of our country, going to work everyday, serving our country, paying our taxes, raising our families, going to Church, trying to play by the rules and stay true to the values we were brought up with.

Yet, who speaks on our behalf? Not our President, nor Congress, nor our Courts. Not even our dear Pope has a word for us, yet we fill the pews and pay for our Church and support it’s causes. We are being pushed aside by everyone. We are being marginalized, forgotten and taken for granted. In many cases, we are even looked at as evil

It’s all about the people that are warping everything that we now hold dear. They are the ones that get the attention. The gays, the LGB whatevers, the illegals, college students, professors, Hollywood actors, singers, sports stars, etc.etc. are destroying our value system. The world is coming off it’s axis and unlikely to ever return to the world and the values I knew. I only have faith in my faith and the Holy Catholic Church, although even that seems destined for radical changes. You can just feel it coming…😦
No, no radical changes are coming. It’s best to listen to and understand the media but also understand that it is against our values, and especially the Catholic Church. Jesus Christ protects it. Read the National Catholic Register or Our Sunday Visitor.

I lived through the gradual and carefully planned destruction of our value system and too many families. It did not happen by coincidence or for no particular reason.

Women were greatly injured by a planned attack on abortion laws:

No-Fault Divorce, which was created out of thin air, resulted in a lot of classified ads which I read in the 80’s, like this: “No kids? $75 and you’re out. Call 800-DIVORCE.” Pay the money, sign the papers, write “irreconcilable differences” and you’re out. Too easy. And no, I’m not referring to abuse cases.

Cable TV is heralded as the next big thing in the 80’s. I actually watch them stringing cable lines on utility poles for miles. What do we get? Porn on cable. Who asked for that?

Enter the American Civil Liberties Union. You know that Nativity in front of City Hall that’s been there for years? The one that no one was forced to look at or put money in? Well, they woke up one day and decided it was Unconstitutional. I watched on TV as a priest lay prostrate across stone stairs as a carved open Bible is removed from a public place. It’s Unconstitutional. In a town not far from where I live now, merchants had speakers on the outside of their stores that played Christmas music. Someone complained. The city then passed an ordinance that allowed the music but not the words. Can you imagine Silent Night without the words?

Fear not. Have hope. Pope Francis is focusing on the key building block of society which is being threatened, the family.

Why are there no Lobbyists in Washington that represent hard-working blue collar guys? There’s no money in that. Just stay true to the values you were brought up with. Your work ethic. Your desire to be honest.

Sure, because advocating for basic human rights for LGBT individuals in parts of the world where LGBT people are tossed from buildings or otherwise maimed or killed and face institutionalized discrimination will destroy American and Christianity.
This is a good point.

However, do not let that blind the fact of what is going on in America. The LGBT are no longer the oppressed, but are becoming the OPPRESSORS.

Can we please and try to avoid such rhetoric. All it does is perpetuate an us vs. them mentality. Yes some LGBT activists are very hostile towards the Church but not all LGBT/ssa individuals. Additionally, that doesn’t mean we need to be just as hostile.

It also doesn’t mean that LGBT/SSA individual aren’t at times treated horribly by some in our society.

The State Department has a “Gay and Lesbian Envoy?” Why? Is this a new position?
Uh…well…one is tempted to make a wry remark, but probably better that I don’t.👍

It does remind me of an old limerick, though.

Jim, I hate to break it to you, but nobody is. (But I think you know that already.)

Well, Rick Santorum seems to, but he is well out of the news nowadays.

I don’t see anyone being hostile, just pointing out the obvious. Unfair treatment of Christian persons, a Gay and Lesbian Envoy and an International LGBT organization. An obvious plan is emerging. The desire is not to treat LGBT persons poorly, but let’s face it, plenty of non-LGBT persons are being killed, imprisoned and tortured for other reasons. That is what the U.S. State Department should be focused on - all people.

People who are not LGBT, kill and injure other non-LGBT people in the United States daily.

I wasn’t trying to say anyone was hostile (I should have been more clear). The whole idea of now they are the oppressors creates an us vs. them mentality which hurts evangelization.

I understand there are many of things that need to be addressed and many people who are suffering. I never said or wanted to imply that this is the only issue that matters.

The Us vs Them mentality was created by LGBT groups first. While the Church and myself can love everyone, when the push for gay marriage began, what should we have done? When the State Department has a Gay and Lesbian Envoy, the meaning of that should be clear. No, no one should be hurting anyone but this LGBTI specific envoy signals a shift in what is the proper mission of any country’s foreign policy. It appears that this is a continuation of “don’t hurt or imprison anyone unjustly” to don’t do that with LGBTI persons in particular, followed by the gay marriage situation as it is unfolding. Once LGBTI persons are no longer being persecuted (a good thing) then LGBT behavior should be considered normative (not a good thing). Especially gay marriage.

When it started, it was “just give us gay marriage” and we’re done. No, not true. Birth Certificates are attempting to be changed not to reflect biological reality but to say that two men or two women are the parents. “The fight isn’t over” to quote a reliable source.

So, while welcoming SSA and LGBTI persons in the Church, there are LGBTI families that feel they have no place in the Church because their living arrangement is not compatible with Church teaching, which is not to say that the doors of the Church are closed to them. Or that they cannot do good things.
