Says Cardinal Bertone’s Comments Do Not Infer a Societal Trend
VATICAN CITY, APRIL 14, 2010 (Zenit.org).- When Benedict XVI’s secretary of state noted a link between pedophilia and homosexuality, he was referring specifically to the fact that 60% of cases of sexual abuse of minors by the clergy involve adolescent boys, and not to a trend in society in general, the Vatican clarified today.
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone’s comments during a press conference Monday in Chile set off a firestorm of comments in the media, among homosexual organizations, and even by the French Foreign Affairs Ministry.
