It might be a good idea to replace Archbishop Tobin with someone who means business. Itd do a lot of the leaders of womens orders good to experience a bit of fear, so that they can be forced back to orthodoxy…or turfed out!

Conservative Catholics have known for decades about the state of some of these orders: with radical feminism, lesbianism, abortion promoting, goddess worship etc, etc, etc. There`s widespread Paganism! How much more “dialoguing” does Archbishop Tobin think there should be?

Sr. Joan Chittister isn`t the only American nun with serious problems. Why can they white ant the Church with impunity?

Reading the article, without reading into it, I think the AB may have a valid suggestion. Surely there is a compromise between a unilateral review and breaking confidentiality. Faithful Catholics should not fear dialogue between religious and the Church hierarchy, as long is it protects the confidentiality of the religious who bring forth criticism. Yes, bring in the religious leaders for the discussion, but do not give them enough specifics to know who said what. If there is any hint at retaliation, remove them from office in favor of someone more Christlike.

The beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord. This element seems generally lacking in the modern church at the local levels. Sunday sermons are Pollyanna sermons that promote positive effort. Good sermons as far as it goes, but goes halfway - a half truth. What is often missing is the sense of boundaries. The message is WE can all live together if WE love & tolerate each other, as well as tolerate sinful views to be espoused & practiced within the purview of the church. The problem with the modern church is that it is good at teaching the vision of Our Lord’s plan but, it falls short of describing the boundaries - the "Thou shalt NOT"s. It describes Paradise without reminding the faithful of the proscription of the forbidden tree. Archbishop Tobin’s view may be valid, depending on if there were fear tactics way over the top, but his blanket statement about Fox News shows a liberal bias mocking social conservatism - toleration without boundaries.

This is the end of this visitation. I only hope that the promise to keep the confidentality of the sisters who complained about the problems in their own order will be kept. It seems that their confidentality may not be kept. If not, some of these sisters will be punished. This visitation has come to a bad end, and it would have been better if these visitations had never been made.
