No one is trying to be anyones judge. If you think these priest went to confession and said I just molested so and so. That indeed is a laugh. They don’t think there is anything wtong in what they do, so why confess?

How can you possilby know about anyones remorse. People go into the confessional to get right with God, the priests or any habitual child molester out there are not going to be seeking forgiveness or reconciliation with God until or unless the Holy Spirit convicts them, most of this dreadful stuff is committed by the sick sick sick. Pedophiles are never healed they enjoy what they are doing and they are sick. How do I know this because the molestation happened to me and it was covered up. When finally i spoke up this person said I did nothing wrong and then went on to molest others. So yes my dear I have been face to face with molesters and know they will always be sickos

You say that you are a believer in Jesus. What exatly do you believe? Can Jesus forgive sins and can he heal diseases of the mind and the body?

I guess I still believe in miracles and the power of God enough to think such things can still be healed and every sin can be forgiven. I do not think it is relevant to the way that pedophiles are treated though. They still need to endure their punishment in this world as reparation for their sin. They still need to be kept separate from children in light of the possiblity that they are faking conversion.

Everyone is entitled to absolution. The well of mercy knows no bounds. For those who can not every see forgiving child abusers, perhaps it would help that Jesus bound our own ability to be forgiven by how we are willing to forgive others. If a child abuse sin (or murder) is held as an exception to reconciliation, then other serious sinners who turn to God in mercy may equally need to seek mercy and be deterred by the wagging tongue of the priest. The goal is nothing less than Heaven. As horrible as child abuse is, it is not worse than Hell. The Church maintains perspective between the suffering in this life and the suffering for all eternity that is often lost in emotionally charged topics.

They can be forgiven, but they have to stop offending first. Mercy is important but so is safety. The problem is that so many people have acted as if they are sorry when they got caught and then they continue to abuse. In that case, I do not believe absolution is appropriate.
