The report is missing pieces. Religious and clergy have seen the full memo from the Vatican. The issue is that the scholars were assigned a task. They are so busy arguing about their positions, that they are not getting the job done. It’s almost like CAF, but live.He wants scholars not to “overemphasize their points of disagreement?”

This is a polite way of telling them not to think so much about their opinions, because the Vatican certainly does not think much of them. Just get the job done. They’re supposed to be focusing on how to teach Theology of the Body, not what Bl. John Paul meant here and there. That part will be dealt with in the classroom, when these folks come up with uniform way of teaching Theology of the Body.
Sometimes, we Christians become too enamored of our opinions, thinking that we actually have a right to have an opinion about everything. The fact is that the Vatican is the consumer here. These folks are the contractors. The Vatican wants a curriculum, not their opinion on what this or that means.
Unfortunately, the Vatican is too polite. It may need to learn to tell people to be quiet and get back to work. People can waste a lot of time and get derailed on something that is not the question on the table.
