It’s from a story on the CBS evening news. There’s other stuff after it too (not from CBS though), that goes into things like changing the ten commandments and things, but the main thing I’m focusing on here is the CBS story. Just how do you explain this?

Ignore it. The media has a reputation of bashing the Church because we don’t approve of killing children and of same-sex unions.
 
Right, you can just ignore it because it comes from a “biased” media, uh huh. Face it the document says what it says, you can’t deny it.

It depends on with what agenda they say that doesn’t it.
 
How can you defend something such as this, it’s been on the books for 40 years! It’s basically given priests a license to act out with no punishment, since no one can know about it.

There’s no documentation to prove this.
 
This actually does talk with a priest BTW about this document (though he defends it and says it’s taken out of context, of course). So if you want any more proof, that this document does in fact exist, that would be it right there.

If a priest confesses in the confessional that he committed pederasty the confessor cannot reveal it for that would violate the seal of the confessional. NO PRIEST CAN VIOLATE WHAT SINS ARE CONFESSED IN THE CONFESSIONAL. Studies show that pederasty in the Priesthood is the least among all classes of men in America - somewhere around 1/2 of 1%. But our own people won’t forgive. These people think the poor priest is above human frailty. Another point - there is no critic of Catholicism more vitriolic than the ex-Catholic. 80% of the sex abuse incidents within the Church have been shown to be SSA related, not pedephilia aimed at pre-adolescent children.
 
Let me ask you this though, if the Church was so all about truth, why would they feel the need to hide anything, or punish those who speak out? (even those that were abused)
