Vatican City, Jun 3, 2010 / 09:31 pm (CNA).- The Vatican daily L’Osservatore Roman (LOR) published an article this week on a meeting of the international theological and cultural review “Communio,” which was founded 38 years ago by Hans Urs von Balthasar, Henri de Lubac and Joseph Ratzinger. This is an excellent summary of the mindset and view of the Church that the mendicants had during the 12th and 13th century. Bring the Church into the world without losing the intimacy of the mystical life. The great founders such as: John de Matha, Dominic, and Francis of Assisi had this vision of the Church long before Vatican II. Therefore, what Vatican II proposed was not new, but simply not embraced by every Catholic, only the sons of John, Dominic and Francis.
