Rome, Italy, Apr 28, 2010 / 05:56 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Benedict XVI will make the final decisions regarding the Apostolic Visitation of the Legionaries of Christ, clarified the Vatican spokesman on Wednesday.

I don’t see how the Pope can do anything other than close down the Legion, or do something that is functionally the same, like making it a subordinate part of some other entity. The things that have come out about it make any other decsion difficult to understand.

I have to agree. I can’t tar all the Legionaries; but you have to wonder how Fr. Maciel could have pulled the wool over so many people’s eyes for so many years without large-scale complicity?
