The Vatican’s internet site was restored, and apparently fully functional, on March 8, less than 24 hours after a crippling attack by hackers. The ‘Anonymous’ collaborative claimed …

Vatican City, Mar 8, 2012 / 12:31 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- Despite launching an attack for several hours on the Vatican website, a group of hackers known as Anonymous was unsuccessful in completely shutting down the Holy See’s official internet page.
Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Holy See’s Press Office, confirmed to CNA on March 7 that the Vatican website was indeed the target of an attack.

I was surprised that nobody had put a news article about the attack on the Vatican’s website in here. That said, praise be to God that a total shutdown was averted.

[BIBLEDRB]Matthew 16:18[/BIBLEDRB]

Our Lord’s even extends towards the internet 😃

The Anonymous group is simply a bunch of bullies… what do they honestly expect to happen if they shut down the Vatican’s website? Oh, yeah, that would change our minds about Christ’s Church.

The Church has existed longer than humanity has been harnessing electricity never-mind the bloody internet. Seriously how absolutely foolish are these people?

Holy Mother Church has stared down Roman Emperors, barbarian chieftains, feudal kings, republican terrorists. “Great” political minds like Bismark have come and gone. All are dust now and only the Church still stands. Untold numbers have shed their blood that Christ’s cause be vindicated. The faithful have suffered everything imaginable. They’ve faced every torture device known to man. They have been killed in every possible twisted manner. And yet they still grab their beads, they still obey the Holy Father, they still accept God’s grace.

And these 20-odd year old loners who live in their parent’s basement “fighting” from behind a computer screen think they’re something? They actually think they’re accomplishing something? They are not even worthy of licking Robespierre’s boot.

Honestly how stupid can a man possibly be? It is true indeed that Our Blessed Lady is our race’s solitary boast. The rest of us are fools of the highest order.

P.S. I have never before understood the saying that those who use profanity simply demonstrate that they have a poor vocabulary. Now I do. It was hard writing this post :p.

It is true that this young adults must be incredibly stupid to try and hack the Vatican’s website. They couldn’t even manage to shut it down! That said, even if they did, of what consequence would that be? It certainly would not change my mind and I know it wouldn’t change hardly any other minds either. I honestly doubt it would change a single person’s mind. If you want to know the truth, it just furthers me in my Catholic belief. It makes me more firm in my belief in the Catholic Church? Why? Because I know that evil really does exist and these hackers are a representative of the evil forces in the world. They may think they are a force of good but they are not. They really just need to grow up and get a real job.

I believe the hackers were already arrested no?
No. The arrests preceded the attack on the Vatican website, and involved two people from the UK, two people from Ireland and one from the US.

The credit for the attack on the Vatican website was claimed by an Italian branch of Anonymous.

This “Anonymous” hacker group must have branches all over the place. How sad. 😦

Well the Apostles managed to get the word out and they were only on dial-up speed, so I’ll guess we’ll manage :coffeeread:

Wow, you attached vatican.va. :clapping: Way to go hackers. What’s next, hacking some daycare site?

Normally when these groups hack into websites (vs. just a denial of service attack) they gloat in the documents they “steal”. I sure hope they enjoyed the writings of the Popes, councils and Church fathers. 😃

I imagine taking down the website had exactly zero effect on the Vatican’s workday. We’re talking about an organization that still publishes its documents in Latin! It’s like stealing a dollar bill that falls out of a guy’s wallet. He’ll hardly notice it’s gone and it won’t change his mind about anything.

I’d also guess these guys wouldn’t be so cocky if they didn’t have their beloved internet to hide behind.

I’ve become convinced that people who give the sex abuse issue as a reason for antagonizing the church are just looking for a reason to confirm their pre-existing opinions. People won’t shut up about the crusades, and that happened centuries ago!

They do not just gloat over theft of information, they also threaten to publish them. A rather good aid to evangelisation. 😃
