Yep. A sad day.

Actually, this is a good sign. The Vatican is following all procedures to the letter and not hiding anything. The complaint in the past was that the Church did not cooperate and tried to circumvent the laws. They are cooperating fully and complying with all the laws related to this case. There is nothing sad about it.

If there is no extradition agreement between the Dominican Republic and the Vatican state, they can’t just make one up for this case. It sounds like this was an inquiry as to whether there was such an agreement and the answer was “no”. Would you prefer that the Vatican official lie and say there is an agreement when there isn’t one?

The issue here is that statements given to DR and Poland are contradictory:

1. Neither Poland nor DR have an extradition treaty.
2. DR was told that Archbishop WILL BE extradited to DR if requested.
3. Poland was told that Archbishop WILL NOT BE extradited to Poland if requested, because a Vatican citizen cannot be extradited. But if so, then extradition to DR (or anywhere else) is also impossible. If the rule is “Vatican does not extradite citizens”, then Vatican does extradite citizens – destination does not matter.

Furthermore, if you continue to believe the secular press over the CC you will always have serious issue with the Church.

Allegations can be made but all accused are presumed innocent until proven otherwise. Neither accused should be returned to the DR.

I could have not said it better myself, but sad as it is, in todays world, it is actually the complete opposite, a person is actually presumed GUILTY until proven innocent and in some cases, even with proof, they are still considered guilty. Sad that the population has let it get to this point IMO.
