Falling in love with another man is not the same as murdering a child and equating the two is not in line with Catholic teaching.
Homosexual sex and abortion are the same in the sense they may (if unrepented of) lead ones soul to hell. That really is the big problem with all of this sin. Neither God nor the Church wants anyone to go to Hell.

Peace!

From an article on Yahoo news.yahoo.com/vatican-sacks-priest-comes-gay-121640066.html

"The Vatican said the dismissal had nothing to do with Charasma’s reflections on his personal life, which it said “merit respect”.

“But it said his interviews and the planned demonstration was “grave and irresponsible” given their timing on the eve of a synod of bishops who will discuss family issues, including the Church’s position on gays.”

I have been 100% supportive of what has been going on with Pope Francis in the chair of Peter.

However, the comment from the Vatican implies that Charasma’s lifestyle wasn’t the problem, it was the fact that he planned to participate in a public spectacle intended to boost support for views that oppose the Church on the eve of the synod,

What’s up with that?

He absolutely ought to have been sacked for stepping out of line so publicly, but shouldn’t his choice of lifestyle have been enough to sack him a long time prior to this?
So there is no chance that this “Vatican said” statement was taken out of context? It certainly wouldn’t the first time secular media put there own spin on what "The Vatican’ said.

We do know what the Church believes and teaches so I would not read so much into a statemenmnt like this.

I came to this thread wondering what I find many others also asking: Was he fired for #3 but tolerated for #2?

Other posters are correct that we cannot determine from this case alone, we don’t know what was said and done before his public announcement and we don’t know about other cases that rose only to #2, but the question hangs in the air given the big fat black eye that the Church suffered in public opinion from pedophile priests who were long tolerated by bishops.

(I can personally attest to having that thrown in my face on numerous occasions when I tried to defend the Church against secular and sectarian criticism.)
They were not pedophile priests they were mainly homosexual priests, hence the reason why a new screening process barring men with deep seated SSA from the priesthood.

Peace:thumbsup:

One argument to the contrary is that homosexuality is observed in nature, presumably preexisting the Fall (depending on how you resolve the Fall with deep time and evolution). Of course, animals are not moral creatures but the behavior is part of God’s creation. Part of the problem is that the term “natural” has dual (probably more) meanings. On the one hand, what is observed in nature and, on the other hand, what is the potential of man if he chooses right.
So you are saying there are male creatures out in the wilds (besides human) that allow males to use his outdoor for an indoor and find pleasure in it??? can you give one example of this???

This is what we are talking about here. we are not talking about 2 male penguins that are best friends and inseparable. Love between men is very natural and pleasing to God. My best friend is/was very important to me. Why is there such a need to dirty love with a disorded sexual vice and call it good.

Ridiculous: 😊

I’m no biologist but I think it’s pretty well known that homosexual behavior, not just penguin friendship, occurs among animals:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexual_behavior_in_animals

Nobody who has seen a dog hump a leg or a stuffed animal should be at all surprised by this.
