discussion welcomed??? Until you disagree with someone or, heaven forbid, speak the truth. see what happened to the Thread “Is Allah the same as God the Father?” There had been 23 pages of discussion which had become very interesting; not filled with ranting but considered, intelligent discussion. It has been deleted down to 6 pages and closed. Someone was upset by what the thread’s conclusions were. Someone does not want Catholic truth told in this forum. Who? I wonder.

Also, I had over 250 posts, now I have only 61. No explanation. Very mysterious.
 
Dare we hope that this is it? From the article:

Jean-Marie Guenois, a veteran religion correspondent for the French daily Le Figaro, has reported that although the formal answer from the SSPX had not yet reached the Vatican, officials involved in the talks have indicated that an agreement in principle is already in place, and “the final adjustments have been concluded between Rome and Écone,” the SSPX headquarters.

I’m almost afraid to believe this is true. This has got to be the best birthday present ever for any pope! Happy Birthday, Your Holiness!!

I also think it’s great that it is on the feast day of St. Bernadette, through whom we received Lourdes, which is all about healing, and can there be any greater healing miracle than this one if it actually happens!
 
How many members does the SSPX have?

I’ve read lots of hugely varying numbers.

In recent days several articles reported 10,000 plus in number. That is a lot smaller than I had thought.

Any godo sources on the actual membership?
 
Just a heads up.

Don’t get your hopes up. Keep them at the moderate level, and pray your Rosary for them! Offer every intention for them! Entrust this to God’s will and his will alone. Eventually, you KNOW they will reconcile. Whether it be in 100 years time or today or this week.

But PRAY PRAY PRAY PRAY!
 
Anyone read the press releases from the SSPX General? Also from the Vatican?

I did some research, but I’m still not clear on why they broke off in the first place. I know it was basically cause SSPX wanted to ignore changes made in Vatican II. Which changes were they up in arms about?
