Are you saying that the Neocatechumenate are Liberal? I only ask because obviously they aren’t.Liberal Church of America, I sure hope your reading this. This article should serve you as a warning to your unfaithfulness. Hail Pope Benny baby. He’s the man.

Matt25, we are agree, it´s wonderful, Neocatechumenate aren´t liberals, they are the best catholics that I have know, catholics all days and all hours, with many children, and many merriness. Are you saying that the Neocatechumenate are Liberal? I only ask because obviously they aren’t.
Well, they (the Neocatechumenals) may not be liberal, but something sure don’t sound right. Reception of the Eucharist at a table rather than in procession? Secret rites (according to the article quoted) that only they know about? A separate hierarchy? It seems to resemble the gnostic sects of the early Church. And if they’ve been given directives by the Holy Father to cease and desist and then don’t…it seems that they may be “more Catholic than the Pope.”

I don’t about you but a seperate hierarchy, taking communion at a table, all things which canon law forbids. And that would be grave disobedience to Rome. Are you saying that the Neocatechumenate are Liberal? I only ask because obviously they aren’t.
What on Earth are you talking about. The article forgets to mention the fringe right of the church who assumed B16 was going to crown himself with the papal tiara and wipe out any ‘dissenting’ pastors.
Instead he seems to be molding himself in the image of Paul VI.
Probably a disapointment to the EWTN crowd.
I think I’m referring to the people who were excited that the Pope’s Bavarian Watchdog was now Pope himself…What on Earth are you talking about.
Why are you so hostile to traditional Catholics like myself? I’m sorry that you blaspheme the holy father like that, given your exclusively political view of things. Since when does the papal tiara have anything to do with the latin mass? Don’t see the connection.I think I’m referring to the people who were excited that the Pope’s Bavarian Watchdog was now Pope himself…
They have longed for this era…and I personally think are disapointed that we already aren’t seeing mass celebrated ad orientum worldwide.
Actually, the faithful crowd seem pleased with him. The Pope seems to be after correcting the liberals. The article forgets to mention the fringe right of the church who assumed B16 was going to crown himself with the papal tiara and wipe out any ‘dissenting’ pastors.

This had the effect of generating a cultural revolution within the Church such that anything that was characteristically pre-conciliar became suspect.
Modes of liturgical dress, forms of prayer, different devotions, hymns that had been a part of the Church’s cultural treasury for centuries, were not just dumped, but actively suppressed. To be a practicing Catholic in many parishes, one had to buy into the pop culture of the 1960s and 1970s.
ewtn.com/library/CHISTORY/zben16vat2.HTMCode:Against this, Ratzinger has been critical of what he calls "claptrap and pastoral infantilism" — "the degradation of liturgy to the level of a parish tea party and the intelligibility of the popular newspaper."
Here is an interesting addition:Liberal Church of America, I sure hope your reading this. This article should serve you as a warning to your unfaithfulness. Hail Pope Benny baby. He’s the man.

Sorry for my editorial comment, but Frommi has a bent for instigating forment on virtually every thread that he or she touches.Facts don’t seem to get in the way.The article forgets to mention the fringe right of the church who assumed B16 was going to crown himself with the papal tiara and wipe out any ‘dissenting’ pastors.

I tend to think I use fact pretty often. I’m not instigating anything, I’m responding to a post in a DISCUSSION forum.Sorry for my editorial comment, but Frommi has a bent for instigating forment on virtually every thread that he or she touches.Facts don’t seem to get in the way.
This is really disrespectful of both the current and the previous Pope; it comes off sounding like you have an issue with Pope Benedict.I think I’m referring to the people who were excited that the Pope’s Bavarian Watchdog was now Pope himself…

No kidding. This is really disrespectful of both the current and the previous Pope; it comes off sounding like you have an issue with Pope Benedict.
It was the Holy Spirit Who elected Pope Benedict XVI. Do you oppose the decision of the Holy Spirit?I think I’m referring to the people who were excited that the Pope’s Bavarian Watchdog was now Pope himself…
Yes, my impression of the article was that it was a viewpoint in search of a story. They cobbled together some rumors, made some unfounded allegations, and tried to portray the Neocatechumenal Way as a bunch of rebels. The rest of the article gave me a nasty taste in my mouth. I get the impression that this is a smear campaign similar to those waged against Opus Dei and the Legionnaries.
