Vatican synod calls for end to Israel’s ‘occupation’
At conference on Christians in the Middle East, US Melkite archbishop says: “There is no longer a chosen people.”

ROME – Bishops from the Middle East who were summoned to Rome by the pope demanded on Saturday that Israel accept UN resolutions calling for an end to its “occupation” of Arab lands.

In a final joint communique, the bishops also told Israel it shouldn’t use the Bible to justify “injustices” against the Palestinians.

“I am not anti-Catholic” anti-Catholics have gone ballistic over this.

The Eastern Catholic Churches, in population, are a small part of the Catholic Church. However, their ancient historical roots are unquestioned and the rites they preserve are an important tradition.

No, he is the Archbishop of the Eparchy of Newton of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church, one of the 23 sui juris Churches that are in communion with Rome that make up the universial Catholic Church.

The Roman (or Latin) Catholic Church is just one of those (though it is the largest).

Romans 11:28-29
As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies on your account; but as far as election is concerned, they are loved on account of the patriarchs, for God’s gifts and his call are irrevocable.

Though broken off at this moment, they still are the chosen people. They should review Romans 11 and take it from there.

They know what is written. The Bible proceeds from the Church. What would you have them do?
