Hurray for the Muslims!

Perhaps their devotion to God will spur their more secular neighbors to take an interest in religion.

Too bad it’s the wrong god.

Agreed.

It’s odd though that the Church (and the Christian faithful) haven’t been doing it all along.
IMO Christianity should be at the forefront of religion, espeially in Europe. It should never have got like this and I find it uncomforting thankng the muslims for bringing God back into society.

See, the real enemy is the secularists, not the muslims

They blow us up and all we can say is, “Thank you sir, may I have another???”

Why do you find this unbelievable? Muslims are our spiritual cousins and we have a lot of common interests.
It is our interest to subjugate and conquer ourselves (non-muslims) and fight ourselves until Islam reigns supreme?

They whole “wrong God” idea should be, has been, its own thread in NonCatholic Religions. I always thought there was only one God.

However, I understand this statement, in light of the continuing secularization of the world. Politics make strange bedfellows. I know I would consider it a blessing if the voice of morally unpright Muslims would help us end abortion, for example.

Also, I have fought the temptation to group all Muslims together, post 9-11. It is simply wrong.

The muslims are much more likely to send you to your grave before the Secularists.
Exactly! If you go to your grave as a martyr, that’s whole lot better than having the faith of you and your family slowly eroded away by being immersed in relativism 24 / 7 / 365

There is only one God. And it is my firm belief that Muslims themselves believe that they are worshiping the one true God. However, if Allah and JHWH were the same deity, then the description of Allah in the Qur’an would be very similar (if not identical) to the description of JHWH in the Bible. As it is, the descriptions and characteristics are markedly different. Therefore, they are not the same. If the God of the Bible is the one true God, then Allah is a deception.

That’s why I said, “Too bad it’s the wrong god.”

i just attended a thanksgiving ecumenical service. one of the female protestant pastors referred to our lord allah in her short message. i about fell off the pew!!

i think more people turned to God after the terrorists attacked our country on 9-11, but i am not thankful that these terrorist attacks are bringing people to God.

are muslims more faithful than jews, catholics, protestants or buddhists? they think their religion should be the religion and the law of the planet.

the last i heard is that church attendance has dropped in europe.
even prince charles does not want to be called defender of THE faith, but defender OF faithS, when he becomes king.

the person who made this remark might have thought he was saying something that would open dialogue between catholics and muslims, but i don’t agree with the statement. i am not opposed to open dialogue between the two faiths because i know not all muslims are extremists, but islam has a long way to go as far as being understanding and open minded about people who want to believe differently than islam.

That is why Protestants have always been and always will be rightfully called heretics.

Lest we flip out over the word, it is the Arabic word for God and is as legitimate to use as the English word “God” for Arabic speakers. In fact I believe either the Syrian or Maronite Rites use it already.
