I understand the Vatican officials are cooperating with the authorities in the Dominican Republic and they are NOT ‘harboring’ Wesolowski. To the contrary, by recalling him to Vatican City and defrocking him Wesolowski has lost his immunity. Furthermore, my understanding is that hard times from Vatican City is paid in Italy. Such as the man who shot Saint Pope John Paul the Great. It could be the case that once he is transferred to a prison in Rome, given he would be in Italian territory he can be extradited to the DR.

This man was found with over 100,000 thousand child porn videos and pictures. Going through the material obviously took time, hence the delay of 2 years. It’s not just the material, but, identifying the victim and notifying local authorities.

Wesolowski was in the basement of a convent and this maybe where he is now, which is below where the trial will take place in Vatican City:

“He has been detained in a small room in the basement of the Collegio dei Penitenzieri, a convent located in the same building hosting the Vatican’s court and military police in the well-known Santa Marta square.”

We do lack information but it has have to do with the delicate matter of the case which the Vatican up to now has handled very responsibly. I still don’t know the results of Wesolowski’s appeal to his defrocking. We are left to assumed it was denied as the trial will start in Vatican City.

The trial is scheduled to begin on the 11th of July, 2015 and Lombardi said the first hearing will be public and after that it depends on the judge given the delicate matter. There will be internationals who will evaluate the validity of the evidence provided by the Dominican authorities.

I think Pope Francis is shocked and hurt for the people of the Dominican Republic and is not harboring a pedophile but instead is assuring this horrible man gets no preferential treatment.

I am not defending pedophiles and it is sad that you are so quick to accuse me of doing so. Just like you are quick to accuse and taint all the priests and bishops. I do think it is important to stay true to the facts and not misrepresent the situation. Furthermore, the Church is full of sinners but I find that it is important to clarify that our sins are NOT on account or as a result of our faith. The members of the Catholic Church do not consider themselves ‘saved’ or ‘holy’ because they are Catholics, to the contrary, we recognize we are sinners all the way to the Pope. We have free will - we are not robots of God. There are people that are sinning, are corrupt and have committed heinous crimes who are members of the Church- this is not a reflection of my faith but of fallen human nature.

But, you can go ahead on your merry way accusing all the Church authorities and making presumptions about how this one is doing that and not this which is incriminating according to you imagination and disposition.
