Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Mayans did not predict the end of the world, but the end of the old cycle and the start of a new one.

Correct. It’s just like a millennium change. The Mayans aren’t giving it much thought, it’s the rest of the world that’s looking to keep the “2000” thing going.

I’ll add a point.
If the Maya were able to predict the end of the world as 2012 doomsday adherents so believe, then why is it that the Maya were unable to predict the end of their civilization?

In any case, the Vatican is correct about what it had said.
I’ll add that those buy into the whole “Mayan calendar is going to affect serious change” generally tend to put Western superstition (the whole fear of the number 13) into the Maya calendar. It is worthy of note that the number 13 is not seen as bad luck in Maya culture.

I have done a lot of research into the Maya and Hopi “Change” (as well as a number of other cultures covering thousands of years of art, literature and the like) and my findings lead me to conclude that we are entering a period which satisfies specific astronomical requirements and will bring about a transformation of the Earth.

Those requirements are:

1. Will be a time 43 years after the solar system’s planets form an arc-ed alignment resembling the Chinese character 人 (man). There was such an alignment on 28 November 1969.
2. Will be a time 33 years before the solar system’s planets form a cross, 十. There is such an alignment on 28 November 2045.
   3。The arrangement of the planets at such a time will form the Chinese character 大 (great).

According to the Hopi, this “Change” has occurred a number of times since it began around 15,000 years ago and we are in the fourth world now (the fifth if you include the world as it was before the cycle of changes began). The fifth (or sixth) is soon to commence and there will be seven in total. After that it will be a very long time until the cycle repeats itself so the seventh becomes the eighth but is still technically the seventh. Sound familiar? It should do!

How soon until the “Change”? I wouldn’t dare to speculate. As soon as “soon” is in the Book of Revelation? All I can give is the requirements.

This appears to be how the prophecies of these people work because we are in a 7-cycle period of 35,000 years and each cycle bears many similarities to the previous.

Now, a question of faith. What do I do now that I have this information? Is it my duty under Jesus’ “Love Thy Neighbour” to share it in full, or do I leave it up to the LORD? The Eucharist should take precedence over the Covenant, right? But what if I act against the will of the LORD?

If I recall correctly, Friday the 13th is always seen as a day of bad luck there in the West regardless of observances.

Catholics own and run the world’s largest and most expensive center for astronomical studies in the world and the most expensive and largest observatory. It’s right here in the USA and its headquarters are at Castel Gandolfo. NASA and other space agencies around the world pay to use it. Check it out. vaticanobservatory.org/ We built it decades ago. I believe it’s the oldest in the world.

It also owns the largest and best staffed center for the study of evolution in the world. I believe that it’s in England, at Oxford. I could be wrong on the location.
