Being a vegetarian makes you amenable, balanced and peaceful. It encourages the best in human nature in a person. vegetarian food can be very tasty and we cook it many creative ways in India!

(Though I must add to this to be fair that Hitler was a vegetarian, so are gorillas!)

…His (Jesus’) main diet was that of a pescavore…
The Scriptural texts do not support this hypothesis; argument from silence is not conclusive. Another thread on this board earlier explored this idea that all Jesus personal habits as a Man could be deduced from the scriptures by suggesting (tongue in cheek) that according to the lack of explicit statements in the Scriptures stating otherwise, Jesus must have seldom eaten at all, never bathed, and never used the bathroom:

forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?t=43219&highlight=bathroom

If one wishes to posit that Jesus main diet definitely was piscivorous, vegetarian, or whatever, the burden falls on that person to demonstrate that this is true. It is not sufficient to argue that the Scriptures do not contradict this hypothesis. The person proposing this hypothesis is not limited to using the Scriptures as proof, however. The Scriptures form a part, but not the whole of the Tradition of the Church, and persons wishing to propose novel understandings of Jesus may find supporting evidence among the other official teachings of the Church. In this case, however, I think the chances are highly doubtful.

…I do not think vegetarianism certainly makes anyone sick, weak or smell bad, esp. smelling bad…
It need not make anyone sick or weak if the diet is sufficiently broad that the person so eating gets sufficient nutrition. Many vegetarians today insure this through taking vitamin and mineral supplements. In a culture in which these are not readily available weakness and illness are real possibilities.

As to bad body smell, this is an esthetic opinion, of course, but it is worth noting that many Asians find the body odors of many North Americans unpleasant, and vise-versa. This is largely due to the differences in diet in these diverse parts of the world.

I’ve always said…If God didn’t want us to eat animals, he wouldn’t have made them out of meat. 😛
Hmm. . . . Interesting, since He made you out of meat too. . . .

Vegetarianism is not holy, it makes you sick, weak, and smell bad.
Really? I wonder where you learned that. It’s a well-known fact that it is meat that makes the body stink.

As to “weakness,” have you ever seen a picture of a happy, muscle-bound, plant-chomping GORILLA?.

One of the famous winners of the Mr Universe title was the legendery Bill Pearl in 1971. He weighed 242lb at a height of 5’ 10" and his arms measured 21".

Other strong vegetarians:

Bill Manetti powerlifting champion

Brendan Brazier ironman triathlete (vegan)

Killer Kowalski Wrestler

Lawrence Phillips Football player(49ers)

Pat Reeves power lifter (vegan)

Robert Parnish center (bulls)

Ruth Heidrich 3 time Ironman (vegan)

Stan Price world record bench press

Steve Holt Bodybuilder.
Yup. You’re right. And the toughest regiments in the British army were Indian Sikh regiments, and Sikhs are vegetarians.

Anyway, this is all beside the point since there isn’t going to be meat around for much longer. It’s wasteful, polluting, and takes too much OIL to produce.

Don’t you know the story of Daniel and pulse? His men were stronger from eating pulse rather than the king’s royal food.
Very NICE!.

Thanks for this reference!

Gorillas also are very peaceful creatures – except in Hollywood movies.

Is that why every veghead I have ever met smelled bad, or i guess a better way to put it would be “funny”…alot of them were tree huggin hippie types though, they maybe didn’t believe in deoderant either 😛 …and were always sickly…And those body builders that someone listed by the way, consume lots of protien, be it from soy, they know that they NEED that…their taste in food is a preference.

We are made of protien, and need protien to live and do Grow…if you don’t want to eat cow or pig, fine, but get some protien in ya. legumes are a good source.

I dare anyone to show me where it says “Blessed are the veg heads”.I already posted the Gospel where we have permission, from God, to eat any creature we see fit, cept for another human being of course, …it is not HOLY or UNHOLY to eat or not eat animal of any kind.

The only thing that matters is they type of bread for the Eucharist. Other than that…it all good, why ? God says so.

Humans are obviously “omnivores”.

Where’s my 12ga…i feel the need to go hunt some food 😃

Is this a jest?..you can’t be serious :rotfl:

I don’t need oil to shoot, or trap and animal, and harvest the meat:hmmm:

The final answer is from the mouth of Jesus

And when he had entered the house, and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a man from outside cannot defile him, since it enters, not his heart but his stomach, and so passes on?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.) Mark 7:17-19

Would you please indicate which verses lead you to believe that Jesus was a vegetarian?.
Read Leviticus. Jesus was a devout Jew and so he would **not **have eaten pork or ham.

Orthodox Jews eat beef and chicken, but only if the blood has been drained out of the animal and it is blessed by a Rabbi. They also don’t mix dairy meals with meat meals. There are many more dietary laws outlined in Leviticus. We can only assume that Jesus followed these laws himself BUT didn’t hold us accountable to the dietary laws. Read Mark 7:16-19.

$50 says he munched lamb.

my favorite Bible story is where Jesus multiplies 5 Loaves and Squash.

Its how the animals are treated before they are killed that I have problems with along with the accuracy of the kill in factory envirornments. I’ve seen slaughterhouses and I don’t agree with how it is done, many many animals suffered needlessly in the slaughter process.

See you got to realise that factories don’t really care, they need to kill as many animals as possible to make that dollar, the more animals they can kill the more money can be made.

True God has said kill and eat but, God has also called each one of us to be good stewards to animals and factory killing of animals sorely misses this point.

If you eat meat kill it yourself or know how the animals lived (a.k.a. free range, hormone free) and be sure the people know how to slaughter the animal in the least painful way possible.

If anyone takes the bet, I’ll offer to hold the money until we all find out positively.
We know positively. We know Jesus followed the law, and we know the Jewish law required them to eat of the lamb on passover.

I have been in many slaughterhouses and on many farms. And have never seen any of the atrocities that are claimed by PETA freaks. Thats not to say that I deny the existance of such places, but that they are the exception to the rule.

I think we can be able to slaughter the animals without having to resort to any chemical enhancers…

hmm… halal meat now…

I have always found it intriguing that there was no lamb at the Passover. I heard Roz Moss say she noticed the same thing until she realized, Jesus was the lamb. The bread (speaking of the Eucharist) and the lamb are one and the same.

He may not hace been vegetarian, but at least he was environmentally conscious, riding a donkey and not an SUV and all (unless his minicooper was in the shop.)

Did you say MiniCooper??? :bounce:
