this country will continue to go to hell in a handbasket until women start wearing hats AND gloves to church again. I never stopped and never will.

Headcoverings alone won’t do it. Without the gloves you are neither hot nor cold but lukewarm so I spit you out.

I’m sitting here wondering how in the world I would play the organ and the piano for Mass if I had to wear gloves. Good grief. It’s bad enough I have to suffer the sarcastic comments about my hats and veil (which I started wearing a year ago when I could not find one thing in Church doctrine that abrogated the practice–and, boy, did I try!). I can well imagine the snickering that would be going on with all the wrong notes I’d play with gloves on. I see no value in gloves at Mass unless, as happens here in Minnesota sometimes, it’s cold in the church.

You gotta get a pair like those high society ladies wear to the opera with the fingers cut out. I think Katherine Hepburn wore a pair in one of her movies.

I fail to see what veils and gloves have to do with this country going to hell in a handbasket. Please explain your opinion so that the rest of us may understand.

We have already gone to Hell in this country; we are not only persecuted in secular society, but within the Catholic faith itself as dissenters try to change doctrine to make life easier for themselves.

Most of the Hell, though, is outside the church doors…I don’t see how wearing a veil at Mass has any effect on the remainder of the largely cold to lukewarm world.

I really am interested in what you have to say.

I do wear a veil, and have no intention of wearing gloves…the just don’t go with the khaki’s I wear in the winter. And the thick ski gloves I wear from home to church is just not appropriate for the Mass.

Docker’s. I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroid after sudden major weight gain…most of my clothes don’t fit me but I wear dockers and the like type of pants to work, so since they’re the only thing I own that I fit into I guess they’re good enough for our Lord and Savior who actually forgives my wardrobe before he condemns me.

Just a little advice. Since none of us can actually see the people with whom we’re conversing here you may want to consider that “face value” here is even more superficial than in real life.

Go shake your gloved finger at yourself. And I will go on wearing my tan dockers and nice sweaters with my veil to Mass, if I have your now-educated permission to do so.

I know this is a little off base, but my Wife has been wanting to get a mantilla/veil for a while now…does anyone know of a good place to order one from…? We’ver looked online, but can’t ever seem to find anything nice…

Also, is there any particular reason (besides prefering the color) to choose a black/white/cream veil?

The color usually goes more with the lady’s preference. Unles Lent, Etc. Blondes seem to prefer white, ivory. Dark haired=Navy,black

We have an EXTREMELY conservative church. Ladies in Dockers are not frowned upon at all. Now shorts or halter tops, that’s something else!
