What about the argument that the Catholic Church tried to keep the Bible from the people, most of whom could not read ?

This type of Bible would have belonged to a queen or prince. They would have been wedding gifts, or gifts on special occasions (coronation) and were definitely for private use. They were incredibly expensive and the faithful in the pew had no access to them.
