Picture-Bible of the Late Middle Ages, 1340 AD

What about the argument that the Catholic Church tried to keep the Bible from the people, most of whom could not read ?

The Velislav Bible plays a key role in Bohemian manuscript painting of the first half of the fourteenth century,

The Velislav Bible is one of the most beautiful medieval

This type of Bible would have belonged to a queen or prince. They would have been wedding gifts, or gifts on special occasions (coronation) and were definitely for private use. They were incredibly expensive and the faithful in the pew had no access to them.

There is no fooling you Adamek.

Nobody is going to pull the wool over your eyes.

But, tell me Sherlock, what was your first clue ?

Was it that rich bible cover ?
