You mean the other apostles throwing it up to him? I think they understood that Peter was the one given the keys and was the head of Jesus’ church. So, why would they throw it up to him? Christ forgave Peter… and still made him head of the church on earth.

Those who rebelled from the Church 500 years ago, and since, have been motivated to attack his position, since he was the first pope. If you attack long enough, then the concept of a pope is reduced to unnecessary - as we see in the Protestant world.
However, they have often (not always) replaced Peter with Saint Paul - their de facto pope. Many (again, not all) relentlessly hammer on Paul confronting Peter as recorded in Galatians. But, to do this, they must ignore our Lord’s relationship with Peter, and His conferral of unprecedented power upon him. This begins with the name change, and the promise of the keys to the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus predicted both Peter’s denials as well as his repentance. “When you have turned again (repented), strengthen your brothers” In john 21, our Lord said “follow Me” only to Peter - after Peter’s three-fold affirmation of his love of Christ. Powerful words of repentance and reconciliation that are often overlooked by those who claim to live by the bible (alone) yet seem to ignore 95% of it.
What is also overlooked is the absolute mountain of scriptural (never mind historical) evidence placing Peter in charge of Christ’s Church.
