The message that graphic sends is not illogical – on the contrary. It illustratively takes the claim that the fetus “is not a human being”, to its logical and practical conclusions.

The actual illogical stance is the one that maintains that abortion is morally fine, but it is not morally fine for a pregnant woman to ignore standard health precautions and be wreckless with what she puts in her body. That’s illogical and inconsistent.

I posted the graphic onto my FB wall, and I’ll write here what I did in response to one of the commenters who like you, objected to the poster.

The pro-lifer on the other hand, is consistent by maintaining that a pregnant woman has the moral obligation to act in a manner that respects the health of the child she carries inside of her.
You will never convince anyone if you argue against positions they do not hold. Most pro-choice people would not use morality as an argument for maintaining fetal health, any more than they would argue from a moral point of view that diabetics should watch their blood sugar levels. They would argue from the point of view of effectiveness because to them the issue is a health issue, not a moral issue. It is the pro-life people who think it is a moral issue (primarily). That is why you disagree with the pro-choice people. It is not irrational, if you think a fetus is not a human being, to argue for care of fetuses the parents wish to see born. It is just like arguing that women and men should eat well and avoid drugs before conceiving to achieve a healthier pregnancy, fetus, and, later, child.

Judging by this thread alone the Ad is very effective. People who support abortion should be out on the defensive. they should have to expalin , if only to themselves, why its OK to kill your unborn child but nor OK to smoke and drink while it is developing.

r.
Perhaps Planned Parenthood should start an ad campaign.". Please don’t smoke and drink while pregnant, it makes it harder to find the pieces of your fetus when we abort it"

👍

or alternatively, “Please don’t smoke and drink while pregnant. It doesn’t help us make money if you kill your fetus.”

while i agree with the people who made this ad, i would offer that an obvious rebuttal would be “but it WILL be a baby, and the effects of drinking/smoking now will thus be hurting a baby later”

But even that would work against abortion. “but a fetus WILL be a baby, and aborting it now is thus killing a baby later.”

And just exactly when it will be a baby to them remains subject to an arbitrary opinion…

As I said it appears this picture has really hit hard those who try and rationalize supporting this evil. Awesome ad. i hope they put it on billboards all around the country.
I agree. It’s disgusting to watch people try to rationalize it.

It’s because of stuff like this that I say liberalism is a sin, any way you slice it. If no one believed in abortion, no one would do it.
