I was one of the first people to see this display. I was highly offended. I almost went into the store to complain, but I didn’t even want to go in there.

The problem is the negative attention is gaining more publicity for the mall and the store.

I’ve never been so glad to be poor. I can’t afford to shop at the mall. Thank goodness my children won’t be exposed to such smut. God help our teenagers who will see this and emulate it. :nope:

:bigyikes: don’t think I’ll be going to the mall anytime soon, espeically with my son. Yowza!

I don’t see a difference between that and what they usually use, an ugly model wearing uncomfortable cloths in an uncomfortable position…

It’s a pity the store feels a need to advertise this way at all when they sell such nice cloths (clothing not the bandaids and string on the model). 😦

Fortunately for me, I have no reason, and will continue to have no reason to go shopping there.

Although I don’t particularly agree with what this store is doing I do wonder what “real” pornography is. Is it:

The display of the naked body? (that’s the body God made)

Is it the vision of starving, dying children with swollen empty stomachs? (that’s the body nature made)

Or is it the pictures of dead and mutilated bodies lying in the streets? (That’s the body man made)

What is “Pornography”? smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_12_12.gif

Then why did you even bother replying?

Sexuallity and sensualness are some of our societies greatest sins. That and political correctness, like for example that one Store in England that made a mockery out of the Nativity scene. That was disgusting! The malls lost credibility a long time ago.

What was ‘politically correct’ about that?
That was disgusting!
Ridiculous, certainly, but if people want to do stupid things they often just go ahead and do them. If I met the person that did it though, I would tell them that it was very stupid.

**2354 ***Pornography *consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

The last two are not pornographic at all.

We shoould be careful not minimize one sin, particularly sins of the flesh, that are so rampant in this culture.

I have to agree with** Lady Cygnus** - it doesn’t really look much different from what Victoria’s Secret usually displays. Of course I don’t pay a lot of attention, so I could be wrong. We had a minor local uproar about something similar a few years ago.

So can you clarify, how is this different from the usual Victoria’s Secret?

You overlooked the part where I said, “Sexuallity and sensualness are some of our societies greatest sins.” I was trying to say that poltical correctness is another one of our society’s great sins.

No I didn’t overlook it. I was asking you what your example - the ridiculous nativity scene with the Beckhams - had to do with political correctness.

Depends what you mean by ‘political correctness’. The basic aims are pretty good, but it has been taken too far by some - rather like feminism.

Why? Because it mocks Christianity and do it with a mocking religion sells agenda. Wrote the editor of our local newspaper about immorality of this act and when posted I got blasted by people that were our regular costumers!

Depends on what you mean by ‘political correctness’? Sounds like sophistry if you ask me.

Which is my point, really. Mocking Christianity isn’t ‘politically correct’, so this is nothing to do with political correctness. Airbrushing out Christianity by calling Christmas the ‘holidays’ or whatever similar nonsense sometimes comes under the banner of political correctness, though I don’t think that was the original point either.

No, it is one of these abused terms now that people use to mean just about anything they don’t like, like ‘Nazi’, ‘liberal’, ‘socialist’, ‘feminist’, ‘neo-conservative’, etc. etc.

No, it’s not. What goes on behind closed doors is YOUR BUSINESS!

What is your problem with my thread? Is there something that I am missing here? Go post your rude pictures someplace else.
You’ll have to excuse Scott… he’s not the model of sensitivity. BUT, he is great at lots of other things… like being GRUMPY!

I have a couple of thoughts. I think it’s inappropriate in a mall because of the kids. On the other hand, I don’t think it’s pornographic to show a mannequin in that pose.

I certainly didn’t think women played tennis in those outfits…or strolled to work with a briefcase…or did the dishes. Okay, well doing the dishes would be okay, because that’s in the privacy of your own home.

How much is that scanky mannequin in the window ?
The one that is showing her tail.
Oh how much is that scanky mannequin in the window ?
I do hope that scanky fake chick is for sale.
