There is nothing scrupulous about criticizing lewd public displays. In a less “enlightened” time such displays would be viewed as the product of a sinful mind or a disturbed mind. It is fashionable to place in public things which are for private. That used to be a psychological issue.

We now indoctrinate our children into the culture of excess at every turn.

Michealangelo’s David is nude. It was displayed in the Vatican for years. It wasnt till later that they covered his nudity with a copper skirt and only then because of the politics associated with him, not his nudity.

Now, I really don’t get your point. You think it’s hypocritical that people don’t react to a naked or scantily clad victim of famine, war and poverty by complaining about their sexualized display of bare skin?

How can you say they are unrelated, didn’t God make both bodies? doesn’t man use or destroy Gods creation as he wishes? Are you saying we answer to God for exposing the human form but not for starving it, or mutilating it or killing it? They may not be related in your mind but, I suspect they may be in Gods.

Didn’t also God make the bodies of the prisoners at Abu Ghraib. I see a connection. I have been the victum of an abusive marriage and most recently SA (I’m sorry I cannot type the proper words). I now do volunteer work at a SA center. There are more victums of SA than most people realize. These are both men and women (you are right women can abuse men) I am a personal friend of a man who was abused by a woman. I will admit that because of my experiences I am overly sensitive. I suffer from panic attacks that may last for several days ( although these are getting to be less and less) I will admit that I barely glimpsed at the picture and felt uncomfortable. What about the sick people out there who might be inspired to attack an innocent individual. This display was in a public mall. What might happen in the parking lot or at a nearby bus stop. I am sorry I believe we should be sensitive to our weakest victums. As I say, I have chosen my ministry to be to those victums of SA, because I know what terrible thing it is.
