The next day, the federal government entered into a stipulation that it would not enforce the HHS mandate against Priests for Life pending a revision in the rules that would protect religious liberty.

It’s good news but I want this thing GONE and not just wounded.
 
If I understand it correctly the government changed its position in order to get around having the courts issue a ruling. That’s not really a victory for defeating the mandate.
 
Wonderful news!

I don’t know much about the court system but I would think that this ruling could set a legal precedent that will make it easier for similar victories against the HHS mandate.

Let’s pray that this is the case! 🙂

Correct. It looks like they just won a provisional exemption for their particular organization.
 
Many on this forum view health care, and in fact Catholicism in general, through the lens of single or narrow issues. That doesn’t seem spritually healthy to me.

Health insurance is compensation for performing a job, just as a salary or wage is compensation for performing a job. It would be a gross overstepping of bounds for an employer to dictate to an employee how they could spend their salary. It is also a gross overstepping of bounds for an employer to dictate to an employee which aspects of health insurance they utilize.

Absolute nonsense! Where is it written that anyone is entitled to a job with an employer of his choice?
If an employee does not like the benefits provided by any employer, he is always free to seek employment from someone who does.
You are falling into Obamadama’s propaganda trap that has interpreted the First Amendment to be “Freedom of Worship” instead of how it is written in plain English: “Freedom of Religion, etc.” Big bloody difference!!!

I disagree. I see health care more as a goodiebag thrown in the contract to get the signature.

Actually, the whole reason we have employer-provided health insurance as a benefit in the first place, was to get around GOVERNMENT wage controls during WWII. So when the government interferes in the marketplace, other solutions will be found and look at what we’ve been stuck with ever since - every time you change jobs, you lose your health care benefits. Also the rise in health care costs was brought on by Teddy Kennedy’s creation of HMOs and PPOs.

The horrible legislation commonly referred to as “Obamacare” will have such a drastic effect on this nation that over the next 5-10 years, many people will be shocked at the results.

So we won this particular engagement but not the battle. Still good news, but we shouldn’t lose sight of the battle still ahead.
 
HHS mandate shows the mainstream media bias. Barely any of the victories against the mandate are covered, any victories in favour of the Obama admin are covered. Search for yourself
