The staff of Crux held a panel discussion on the papacy of Francis on Sept. 11. Cardinal Sean P. O’Malley of the Archdiocese of Boston provided opening remarks; Margery Eagan, spirituality columnist for Crux, moderated the discussion.

At one part, John Allen described how a Catholic priest was asked to renounce his religion in a Soviet gulag; he didn’t and was crucified on a wall upside down… took 3 days to die.
