I now understand why particular Orthodox churches would not desire unity with Rome.

The bottom line is that you cant tell from the video but just the fact that it is not beyond the realm of belief that it could be a Mass is a problem. However, Mass or not, this kind of foolishness belongs in a convention center, not in a place of prayer.

My quote about every Novus Ordo Mass being like this was a retort to the silly poster in message #5. There is always that poster who responds to an example of liturgical abuse with statements like “well they don’t do that in my parish …” or " … well, not EVERY Mass is like that …" Well, duh, nobody says they are, but this one, in the Pope’s own church, WAS!
 
There is nothing about this being a Mass, including the title. Was this just some sort of music concert? If so, then what’s the beef? Furthermore, what about a little more honesty in posting and cease the insinuation this is a “Novus Ordo” anything?

I second that statement. Far from encouraging unity, this kind of silliness only serves to drive away the people worth being united with.

I have an issue with defining worth of other people for whom Christ considered worth dying for.
 
I think something that harms unity is people posting on boards like this and not adding any context. Worse, implying that something happened when really that wasn’t the case. We’ve established now that this was most likely not a Mass, but a prayer meeting. And really, it didn’t take all that much to see that it wasn’t a Mass. Yet people responded to this video as if it was.

Pretty sad if you ask me.

Quite true. Nevertheless, an issue I have with practices in the Church today is that nothing is truly defined regarding sacred and profane. Thus, leading to a free-for-all during the context of the liturgy (albeit the video does not highlight a Mass, but instead pray meeting).

There is nothing to show that this isn’t a Mass but even if it isn’t, this kind of hootenanny does NOT belong in a Roman Catholic Church or Basilica. It belongs in a convention center or in St. Peter’s Square. So take it out there!

Grace, in italian a usual meaning of bordello is a mess or craziness. Calmati, signora.
 
You know, it is interesting to notice that this kind of prayer or Mass i think they call it charismatic movement, it is nothing but modernism at best. did anyone notice that this movement is all about modernism?

i know this girl who is going to get married in teh Church. she is a charismatic Catholic. she has chosen a dress that i consider inappropriate to wear in Church. she called me an old fashion. they cant make a distinction between the Church and the world. these weading dresses are pretty worldly and i am surprised that some Catholics do not chose a more appropriate weadding dress, instead they ignore the presence of God and wear what it pleases them.

Principal meaning: whorehouse, brothel

It was profane, period.

I know, and if men don’t wear at least a tie or if the women don’t cover their heads we should kick them out of the Church before Mass starts, right? Right?

What’s extreme about dressing appropriately for our Lord? Would it be better if everyone showed up in a robe and sandals?

Nothing wrong with dressing up, but you don’t know people’s situations and their hearts. Lets say, six years ago I showed up to your Church wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Would there be a problem with that?

You see, six years ago I was homeless, carried all of what I had in my school bag. There would stand a chance that I would not be dressed “appropriately”, at least not to the standards some would want.

Would you throw me on the streets during a time I needed the Lord the most?

Everyone is different. Are there times more modest dress should be adhered too? Of course! Modesty is ALWAYS the best policy, so modesty should be adhered to at all times. All times. But lets not paint everyone with the same brush, if their best isn’t your best lets not get carried away.
