There…are…no…words…

That’s the first time I’ve ever witnessed “liturgical dancing”. I’m offended and disgusted, quite frankly. I don’t know what that was, but it wasn’t Catholic.

I just went to confession. I don’t think I should watch right now.

Sometimes I laugh, just to keep from crying.

Dear Lord, what have we done to your Church.

I found it absolutely hilarious when they called it a ritual movement. Until that point I had only heard that phrase used by my father in law.
Typically, he would grab a magazine, a roll of toilet paper, and go to the back bathroom for his ‘ritual movement.’
:bigyikes: I think that’s **exactly **what was on that video.

Lord have mercy on us all…there is no way that was a Mass. I mean I could understand if it were 35 years ago and I was watching an awful performance of Godspell or something…but the holy sacrifice of the Mass !!!

I just watched it. I think I need to go to confession.

Do you think the Pope has Flash 8?

Lord, have mercy on us all.

what would happen if B16 decided to do some serious house cleaning in LA! Imagine if he was so upset with them that Bishop Bruskewitz was transferred there to clean house. NOW THAT WOULD BE WAILING AND KNASHING OF TEETH. In my wildest dreams I guess.

Incense. The bowl is used to better reflect the “NOBLE SIMPLICITY” called for in church architecture and the Mass itself these days. The older methods of incensing are considered by many to be unnecessarily ornate and not in line with Vatican II thinking.
You’d better tell that to the Pope, since he (and his predecessor) continues to use the traditional thurible for incensing during the Mass.

Some of these interpretations of “noble simplicity” crack me up.

Seriously people, I think it would be a good idea to offer some kind
of reparation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus for such a sacrilege!

😦

Lord have mercy on us all.

OK, one last picture…

A giganto-host, funkadelic altar coverings, wicker baskets, and Kool Aid pitchers. When is this false spirit of vatican II gonna be exorcised from the Church?

H.E. has at least followed the letter of the law in placing a white cloth over those fabric remnants.

I don’t see a crucifix on that “altar”! Or are my eyes failing me…

If I recall correctly, it’s way in back by the Cathedra. Why would it be anywhere near the altar? The chief liturgist of the Archdiocese is saying the Mass, and we all know he can do whatever he pleases!!

Please don’t make me look at the clip again to confirm.

As far as I know there is always supposed to be a crucifix on the altar during Mass:

From NewAdvent Catholic Encyclopedia:

The crucifix is the principal ornament of the altar. It is placed on the altar to recall to the mind of the celebrant, and the people, that the Victim offered on the altar is the same as was offered on the Cross. For this reason the crucifix must be placed on the altar as often as Mass is celebrated (Constit., Accepimus of Benedict XIV, 16 July, 1746). The rubric of the Roman Missal (xx) prescribes that it be placed at the middle of the altar between the candlesticks, and that it be large enough to be conveniently seen by both the celebrant and the people (Cong. Sac. Rit., 17 September, 1822). If for any reason this crucifix is removed, another may take its place in a lower position; but in such cases it must always be visible to all who assist at Mass (ibid.).

Noel.

Maybe someone should make sure to e-mail a copy of this to the Pope…

God Bless Cardinal Arinze for working toward putting an end to this type of stuff. For me the worst part of this is that it is so centered on man and men such as can be seen in the constant applause. This liturgy has lost all of its sense of the sacred.

I have noticed that liturgical dancers often seem to be dressed very modestly. Has anybody else noticed this?
Please note: I do NOT endorse the use of liturgical dancers. I just think that it is strange that they are doing a liturgical abuse, but they are dressed modedstly while doing it!
I also like the “discalced” look. Generally I would agree. However, for a while there was a picture in the parish website of Church located in Boston/Newton of a Jesuit dancing with no shirt. Honestly at this point I would not be surprised to see Sr. Mary Toeshoe similarly clad.
Ok now - “One grecian urn…” [See the Music Man scene with the ladies of the town dancing].

I don’t know what I would do if I stumbled across such a mockery of Holy Mass. I get annoyed when churches stand during the Great Amen instead of afterwards. It’s amazing that we haven’t been smote yet. Thank God I live in the midwest where we have conservative Bishops, churches that look like churches and no liturgical dancers (yet).
