This is true - the man had what, 29 convictions? That’s insane. It needs to be noted that the 2 men who committed the physical assault were not themselves homosexuals. At least one of them is a violent repeat offender with a rap sheet that could match his waist line inch for inch (and he’s not a small guy) and was probably there looking for trouble to begin with.
That said, there was a group of (presumably) lesbians who got into a heated verbal argument with them which led to them chasing the protesters and taking their signs from them, but they did not violently attack the preachers. In fact, when the protester was assaulted, they did not “cheer his attacker on”; they tried to pull him off while yelling at him to stop. I know tensions are high right now, but let’s not skew the facts.

You are exactly right. Tolerance should be a two way street. Why are we surprised when people’s true colors shine through? Tolerance should not be a one way street.

It’s really a shame that some people cannot subdue their passions and learn to co-exist. Violence only breeds violence. Using violence is never a way to settle issues.I’d say this is unbelievable, but it’s not. The fact the crowd was cheering them on is disgusting.
Right. And one of the ways this is different than what blacks went through is that the average homosexual actually makes more money than the average heterosexual. If they go to Hollywood they are just about guaranteed a job in acting. Employers feel pressured to higher them and to show them special preference over everyone else because if they don’t they get sued and attacked by the media. And it’s ridiculous for “gays” to compare themselves with African Americans who went through chattel slavery and were not even called human while a “gay” man might complain that he can’t wear his makeup on the job.Don’t take this the wrong way to mean that I’m glad this happened, but when the LGBT movement ends up overstepping itself and showing violence & hatred towards people that disagree with it, it hurts its own cause. Now that they have a strong footing in the country, they’re more prone to be reckless like this.
Trying to draw a parallel between the civil rights movement and LGBT is a bad joke. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that few of these people care about rights. They want power & prestige.
Unfortunately, skewing the facts is the norm when it comes to the cherry-picked incidents that are publicized in order to drive Christian homophobia. Instilling “fear of the gay” is how Satan seeks to undermine faith, hope and love. What justification does anyone have to draw conclusions about an entire class of God’s Children based on the behavior of a few individuals? None. So, how is it that so many fail to see the moral error in this?It needs to be noted that the 2 men who committed the physical assault were not themselves homosexuals. Ah, yes, we are all homophobes here on CAF.Unfortunately, skewing the facts is the norm when it comes to the cherry-picked incidents that are publicized in order to drive Christian homophobia. Unfortunately, Satan is relentless. As soon as someone knocks down one his works, a new one springs up to take its place. Posting on this forum is like playing a game of “Wack-a-Mole” against Christian homophobia.
It is impossible to reconcile homophobia with Faith, Hope and Love. The Catholic spiritual life is structured around these virtues and fear undermines them all. Once you grasp the significance of these virtues in your life and embrace them into your psyche - all fear dissolves and Satan’s schemes are laid bare for you to see like threads of distortion woven into a marvelous tapestry.
Father Barron commentary on Faith Hope & Love is a must see for all Catholics:

The “average” family has 2.5 children. Have you ever seen half a kid? That just goes to show you that when you speak of “averages” you are really talking about nobody.Right. What word then would you use to describe the “fear of the gay” that is evident in the posts on this thread if not “homophobia”. I’m all for respecting a person’s right to label themselves. What do you call it?Ah, yes, we are all homophobes here on CAF.
Maybe the people (gay or straight) who were intolerant of the pastors’ right to free speech ought to listen to this.![]()
Then post on a tread about marriage - because this isn’t one of them.If defending marriage makes me a homophobe, then so be it!
