What word then would you use to describe the “fear of the gay” that is evident in the posts on this thread if not “homophobia”. I’m all for respecting a person’s right to label themselves. What do you call it?
Thank you, Justice Kennedy!

I am not afraid of homosexuals. I have some in-laws that are same sex “married.” I have civil conversations with them at family functions. They have as much to talk about with me as anyone. One of them does have “recovered Catholic” as his religion on FB. I try to steer clear of controversial subjects like that. That is more than I can say about many people who disagree with my view on redefining marriage.

Sorry but I am not going to post on a TREAD about marriage but perhaps I will post on a THREAD about it.
Actually, we have too many people who apparently want to TREAD on traditional marriage and on those who support it.

…

It is always gratifying to me when a person has no better response to my comment than to pick on a typo. Silly, childish, etc.

Thanks! 😃

It is impossible to reconcile homophobia with Faith, Hope and Love. The Catholic spiritual life is structured around these virtues and fear undermines them all. Once you grasp the significance of these virtues in your life and embrace them into your psyche - all fear dissolves and Satan’s schemes are laid bare for you to see like threads of distortion woven into a marvelous tapestry.
Given the video and the people cheering it would seem to be in a Christian’s best interest to be on their guard.

n.
  1. A persistent, abnormal, and irrational fear of a specific thing or situation that compels one to avoid it, despite the awareness and reassurance that it is not dangerous.
  2. A strong fear, dislike, or aversion.
Is it irrational to fear people that might attack and beat you for voicing an opinion? 🤷

Unless you are voicing support for my right to “call it like I see it” and use the term “Christian homophobia” then it seems I am damned if I do or damned if I don’t. Hardly a just situation.

Yes, if the fear is out of proportion to reality. Then it becomes a “phobia”.

Go right ahead and call me childish, I really do not care because clearly that makes you feel like a bigger person. What I find to be childish is your assumption that everyone on CAF is a homophobe simply because they do not agree with the homosexual agenda and do not care to have their beliefs SHOVED down our throats. After you have heard what happens when you assume right? But that is typical of liberals, you don’t agree with what I have to say so your a “insert nasty slur/name here”.

For what it is worth I have quite a few friends who are homosexual and also a few relatives as well.

If that is the case, why did you take issue with my post? Clearly, my comments don’t apply to you. Does that make then any less valid in general? Do you think the views expressed on this thread up to the point where I posted are expressive of the Christian virtues of faith, hope and love?

No Shana - it does not make me feel like a bigger person, but what you did was really a very silly thing and hopefully you will not make that mistake again in the future.

Did you watch the video I posted from Father Barron? Do you understand how centering your psyche on the virtues of faith, hope and love - as the Church defines them, frees you from fear, anger and frustration. It allows you to distinguish between what is bad (i.e., Christian homophobia) and what is good (i.e. defending the faith).

Of course not everyone on CAF is homophobic - I am on CAF and so are many carefully discerning people. However, this is an open forum and anyone is free to post here. It is a diverse community.

Did you watch the video?
Yup. Can you point out to me where the actions of these individuals are anything other than that - the actions of individuals. The Westboro Baptist Church is much better organized than this group, should they be held up as representative of all Christians?

I personally thought it was funny. But then many liberals can’t take a joke. :o

Sometimes the worst kind of assaults are those that leave no visible scars. I would bet that the grieving families who have had endure their protests at the funerals of loved ones felt as if they were being assaulted.

The Church handles grief very carefully - for a reason.

Good point. The “gay” activist protesters are a lot worse than WBC protesters. Unlike the “gay” activist protesters, WBC doesn’t invade and disrupt holy Mass and doesn’t protest naked in front of the Pope. WBC is bad, but the “gay” activists are far worse. At least WBC protesters keep their distance, and they don’t get naked.
