You had better be wearing a Vietnam Theatre campaign ribbon to spout off like that. If you want to open your eyes, I can take you to a wall and cemetary a few hours South of where I am sitting that may open your eyes. The communist government of Vietnam demolishes a Catholic monastery and converts it into a public square.
It demolishes a Catholic cemetery to convert it into a public park.
Vietnamese Catholics will be forever grateful to Americans who were determined to lose the Vietnam war. Not.
I was in the military during Vietnam, but not in Vietnam. Sorry if that means I am not allowed to have an opinion. There were a lot of U.S. civilians during the war who also had opinions, both ways. I’ve visited the wall and visited the grave sites of friends in national cemeteries. The boat people who risked their lives fleeing to the U.S. also had opinions, as did those sent to re-education camps, and those who are now persecuted for trying to practice their faith. You had better be wearing a Vietnam Theatre campaign ribbon to spout off like that. When many of us have lost loved ones for that country, your previous comments to not sit well. Thank you. I have the utmost respect for veterans of any war, both living and deceased, and most particularly for the veterans of recent wars beginning with Korea: Vietnam, Gulf War 1, Gulf War 2, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghanistan, where military considerations often take second place to political considerations. (Not, as Seinfeld might say, that there’s anything wrong with that, at least as a matter of principle.)When many of us have lost loved ones for that country, your previous comments to not sit well.
