What do you think about it?
Vigano’s way of speech and his concern about the salvation of souls that is at stake is something that is rare for a cleric (or ex-cleric) to say.
And let us not forget to pray for pope Francis so he can address this issue right.

Ok, so how does repeatedly throwing his boss under the bus in public help?

It’s not like we can all stage a coup or impeach the Pope.

If you read the Viganò letter the first thing that strikes you is the author had exhausted all avenues of action he perceived available to him.

He was completely alone, socially isolated, under great tension, having pondered lengthily.

It takes a further detail, in that his final demand was completely unrealistic and thus shows clearly he wasn’t thinking straight and had been locked into an extended period of isolation that didn’t allow consultation or debate with others about what he was about to do.

Pope Francis chose to bypass him, and the USCCB on bishop appointments and other matters. It’s hard to “work within the Church” when you, and other people you were collaborating with, are suddenly taken out of the loop.

The cranky conservatives and liberals were also around under the 2 prior popes. What was different then is that they were allowed or forced to sit at the same table. There was no purge of liberals or conservatives.

I’m sure there were angry disagreements aired, but behind closed doors. Compromises were worked out, very few public attacks on each other.

St JP 2 worked with the US bishops conference at a time when the leadership was very different from his views.

Now, with the ideological Purges underway, cranky conservatives in exile go directly for the media. Eccentric liberal “papal advisors” also go for the media, compromising Church teaching, trashing conservatives, always media driven.
