Is it allowed to do a Sunday mass in the Extraordinary Form (tridentine rite) on the evening of the previous day (not earlier than 4pm)? Will that fulfil our Sunday obligation?
Yes and yes, although I know of only one or two places that have it.Is it allowed to do a Sunday mass in the Extraordinary Form (tridentine rite) on the evening of the previous day (not earlier than 4pm)? Will that fulfil our Sunday obligation?
Yes, and yes (as the poster above said) but not all orders that say the Mass in the EF will do Vigil Masses. The FSSP, for example, does not do any Vigil Masses except for feasts such as Easter and Christmas, and in these cases, the Mass is always said at midnight, so the mass itself is actually on the Sunday. Is it allowed to do a Sunday mass in the Extraordinary Form (tridentine rite) on the evening of the previous day (not earlier than 4pm)?
