Guadalupe and Lourdes. How about you?Do you personally believe in the Marian apparitions Rich?

Bear in mind that barely anyone reports cures. It would mean going through the hassle of getting medical notes and sometimes there’s not enough poof even if they do report it.Yes, it could seem that way. There have been only 64 Lourdes’ miracles recognised by
the Church in the last 152 years since 1858. Given the thousands upon thousands of pilgrims who have gone there in the hope of a miraculous cure, it’s a miniscule number. There are no “certified” cures that occurred at Fatima.
I guess that those apparitions, for those who accept them, do more to bolster the faith of those people than to prove anything or provide more revelation to the Church.
Nice uplifting commentary. Currently our three sons (who left the Church some time ago) are now praying a decade every day with my husband and me. One of them even requested a Miraculous Medal and a St. Benedict Medal which he placed on his neck chain. This might not sound like much, but it is a miracle – through the recitation of the rosary, and various novenas, attendance at daily mass, etc. Now, to keep going and eventually get them back to Confession and in the Church pew.My mum was cured of TB (it was impossible to cure it when she was younger, you had to have a lung collapsed). She was about to have her lung collapsed but went to Lourdes as the last resort. When she came back she had a Doctor’s appointment and all the bacteria had gone. It never returned …
One time, they were standing in the water and this man was carrying a large wooden cross on his back (I can’t remember what the event was). Suddenly before everyone’s eyes it started turning into gold. They had it tested and it was real solid gold. This wasn’t made public. Miracles happen all the time at Lourdes, which is why a big deal isn’t made out of them.
I was cured by the Green Scapular but haven’t reported it because God’s always answering prayers. He never leaves us.
Thank you for sharing this. I am really hapy for you! I am certain they will get back to Confession with all this spiritual aidNice uplifting commentary. Sounds like a nice way to be able to say “One true faith!” and avoid answering hard questions about the evidence.Correct.
There’s a reason for that. "… the influence of the human element still exists. Authentic images and visions are always transmitted to us, in the words of Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger, Prefect of the Congregation of the Doctrine of Faith, “through the filter of our senses, which carry out a work of translation…” and “…are influenced by the potentialities and limitations of the perceiving subject” (Cardinal Ratzinger, Theological Commentary In Preparation for the Release of the Third Part of the Secret of Fatima, L 'Osservatore Romano, June 28, 2000).
Unlike Holy Scripture, private revelations are never binding upon the conscience of the faithful. They are a help in understanding the signs of the times and to help live more fully the Gospel.
Private revelations are, however, binding on the person who has received them.
There is evidence to prove these miracles happened, but they are not dogmatic because they do not change the fundamentals of our belief system. If you are curious, you should google “incoruptibles.”Sounds like a nice way to be able to say “One true faith!” and avoid answering hard questions about the evidence.
Or The Miracle at Fatima, which even anti-religion newspapers reported and 70,000 people witnessed. They put it down to some natural phenomena, but it happened at the exact day and time the children said it would (hence the already gathered crowd). There is evidence to prove these miracles happened, but they are not dogmatic because they do not change the fundamentals of our belief system. They have all been shown to be wax and preservation methods. There is evidence to prove these miracles happened, but they are not dogmatic because they do not change the fundamentals of our belief system. If you are curious, you should google “incoruptibles.”
sarcasm alertThey have all been shown to be wax and preservation methods.
What about the ones which have finally began to decay a bit so have been burried again, or the Saints’ whos bodies were dug up (to see if they wer incorruptable) and turned out to be. Were these waxed? They have all been shown to be wax and preservation methods.
That’s fantastic! Our Lady of Walsingham, pray for us.What about the ones which have finally began to decay a bit so have been burried again, or the Saints’ whos bodies were dug up (to see if they wer incorruptable) and turned out to be. Were these waxed?
Speaking of miracles, I have a really nice story to tell everyone and it is slightly of topic but anyway…
I was talking to my Prest today. He used to be an Anglican Priest and I asked him why he converted. He said that he was at Our Lady of Walsingham’s shrine in a chapel on his own in the evening praying. He had his eyes close and thought he was looking ahead/slightly down. When he opened his eyes, he was looking at a mosaic of Mary with a Host on the ceiling and heard a voice saying, “I want you to belong to the true Church, the Church that my Son built”.
When he went home, he told his wife and she was happy because she had also wanted to convert.

Sheesh, Stan! I just got the email and was going to post it and here you went and posted it a long time ago. I am behind the times and quite irritated.Virgin Mary apparitions at Green Bay-area shrine recognized as first in U.S.
Approval puts Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in same category as Lourdes, Guadalupe and Fatima
A shrine in the town of Green Bay is one of only a handful in the world — and the sole location in the United States — officially designated as a place where the Virgin Mary appeared.
David Ricken, the bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Green Bay, announced today his official approval of the Marian apparitions at the Shrine of Our Lady of Good Help in Champion during a special Mass for the Feast of the Immaculate Conception.

Innocuous and boring???Excuse me if I’m being daft, but I’m still clueless as to exactly what the message was…it just seems to say “fatima-esque” didn’t anyone write anything down? Fatima had prophesy and many other things…anything here…or just “girl was praying/people got cured” seems pretty innocuous and boring to me.
And to back up your assertion, your documentation is…?They have all been shown to be wax and preservation methods.

Here is an incorruptible without the wax mask and covering Link Looks like any other mummy from any other group. In 1925, the third and final exhumation of the body was conducted. This was the occasion during which relics of the sacred body of Bernadette would be taken. Doctor Comte was again asked to conduct the procedure. Once the surgical part was over, he had the body swathed in bandages leaving only the face and hands free. Bernadette’s body was then put back into the coffin, but left uncovered. At this point, a precise imprint of the face was molded so that the firm of Pierre Imans in Paris could make a light wax mask based on the imprints and on some genuine photos. This was common practice for relics in France, as it was feared that although the body was mummified, the blackish tinge to the face and the sunken eyes and nose would make an unpleasant impression on the public. Imprints of the hands were also taken for the presentation of the body. Three years later in 1928, Doctor Comte published a report on the exhumation of the Blessed Bernadette in the second issue of the Bulletin de I’Association medicale de Notre–Dame de Lourdes.
