Virgin Mary Defiled on South Park!

Also we must fully comprehend the depth of significance of the role of Mary. There are some in this world who can only be converted through her.

I am one of those people.

There are also those who would never have walked away from the Faith had they had a deep and meaningful relationship with her. I just had a conversation with a Scientologist who was born into a Catholic family and I am convinced that if he knew he was going to lose his mother in Heaven, he never would have denied her Son. :crying:

South Park loves to make a mockery of everything Christian. They’ve mocked Jesus and Mel Gibson on numerous occassions. They live to offend every person on our planet. Send it to the Factor if you like, but you won’t change anything.

They have also mocked Protestants, Mormans and Jews and every other religious group. I can’t stand the show, never watch it, but can you really expect anything else from South Park? The whole point of the stupid show is that it is irreverent and mocks everything. A letter asking them to change, saying that that episode is offensive will be a positive rating in South Park writers world. It might make a dent to ask networks not to carry South Park, but I doubt it. Alas, I will do it anyway, it’s what I do best.

There needs to be an organized boycott throughout the Christian community of cancelling Cable or sattelite subscribtions for one year with a carefully chosen list of shows that we would like to see removed, otherwise we will continue the boycott, only to watch acceptable sitcoms, movies etc. on DVD or video. That would seriously hit the pocketbook. If we really wanted to make a change, we would do that. Are Americans that tough? Could we go without the Boob toob for that long? Can we go without the lulling hypnotizing sedating effect of mindless tv, and only rent/ borrow/ buy the DVDs that are thought provoking and morally sound?

Perhaps Catholic Video store owners could join forces to create a “netflix” mail order DVD business which carries only Christian- friendly DVDs…
 
They’ve also mocked Barbara Streisand. I mean, what the heck?! Barbara is so cool and such a great role model. They made her into a monster. 😦
And they mocked Bob Saget… how ungodly. :confused:

We should protest this cartoon, which has been well-known for its offensive content for many, many years, and send letters of complaint to the creators!

As time goes on, I have noticed Protestants and Catholics holding hands politically more and more. Truly we are becoming a force to be reckoned with (or stripped of basic human rights if you are a gay activist).

I am sure an entire year would not be necessary, but if you look at some of the threads on media watching habits, the vast majority of us have long since “tuned out” – including myself.

Perhaps what we really need to do is show advertisers how much money they are wasting by spending so much to reach an ever-shrinking audience.

TV is such a lame waste of time.
 
I should and do despise South Park; however, in their defense, they are a step above mainstream media. Unlike mainstream media, who hypocritically proclaim tolerance and diversity whilst nocking Christians and Christianity, South Park quite sincerely seeks to offend everyone: Jews, racial minorities, Christians, women, etc. Again, South Park’s sincere dedication to non-discrimination makes them better than the mainstream media, although not by much. (The show is still offensive, and I haven’t watched it in years.)
 
South Park Ive seen it once or twice I always thought it was mind numbing drivel. It sets out to shock its viewers, it sets itself increadably low standards and continuously fails to meet them. I stopped watching it because it was gross and and played to the lowest common denominator. There should have been more public outrage at this but there wasn`t. Just wait til they start insulting Moslems and the prophet mohammed. I may be no great fan of Islam but at least when they protest people take notice of them.
 
Maybe when they start insulting Muslims, then we’ll see it go away. crosses fingers
 
I don’t even know what South Park is.

I assume it’s a TV show… so quit watching it. And write to them and to their sponsors and tell them you’re boycotting their show and their products.

Contact Accuracy in Media and ask for the addresses of the sponsors.
 
Last night, South Park aired on Comedy Central and once again broadcast Bloody Mary. I am writing a letter to Comedy Central about this. Here is the letter (comments would be appreciated):

Dear Comedy Central,

Please let me start by saying I find Jon Stewart’s Daily Show and the Colbert Report quite funny, and enjoyed watching these programs. Also, I have watched some of your other comedy shows, and they were funny as well.

However, last night, while channel surfing, I came across South Park (episode: Blood Mary) and noticed some religious people and icons being shown. At first, I wondered what it could have been about, and decided to watch part of it. I knew South Park and other shows sometimes mocked religion and stuff, and I do not have a problem with that, but the way this show viciously and disgustingly portrayed Christian figures was unconscionable. I have decided to boycott Comedy Central and to not purchase any programming produced by it.

I am a coordinator of a Catholic group, and I will make sure to let everyone in this group be aware of the filth you are purveying and to strongly warm them against ever supporting your organization in any way. I have often purchased DVD sets from various television shows, but I will never purchase anything from Comedy Central. Also, as a member of a Christian message board, I will be sure to let everyone be aware of this letter and to be warmed not to support your organization.

The airing of this program has once again inflamed people of all faiths, just as it did 2 years ago when it was aired originally, and you will continue to receive the negative backlash from this broadcast. People are more informed than ever about which channels provide worthy entertainment, and which provide the lowest form of filth and blasphemy, as does Comedy Central.

It is quite sad that instead of producing high quality humour, you have decided to produce vile filth, that is so disgusting that people are left completely shocked. Trey Parker, the originator of this show, has said he regrets producing this particular episode because of the huge amount of negative reaction he has received.

As a business, you are aware that in order to survive, you must be supported by advertisers. IF I DO NOT SEE A PUBLIC APOLOGY ISSUED FOR THIS PROGRAM DURING IT’S REGULARLY SCHEDULED TIME, I WILL PROCEED TO SEND LETTER URGING YOUR CURRENT ADVERTISERS TO RECONSIDER ADVERTISING ON YOUR CHANNEL. Many of these organizations have a large Christian and Catholic customer base, and if they realize your shows are offending either of these groups, they will be very quick to remove themselves as advertisers. Do not underestimate this.

In conclusion, I urge you to issue an apology for this episode (Bloody Mary) of South Park and promise never to show this or an episode of similar disgust again, and if you do not, I will be forced to contact your advertisers advising them not to advertise with Comedy Central in general and South Park specifically. I hope it does not come to this.

I will keep you in my prayers, and please keep me in yours. Let us try to show the world our love by living as God has called us to.

I take it nobody saw the Easter episode? That, too, also mocks the Catholic Church & says the first Pope & the ONLY rightful Pope was and should be a rabbit.

Did this thread mention the Isaac Hayes thing? Like Parker & Stone said, he didn’t find it offensive when they were going off on Christianity or Judaism or any other thing they mock.

Actually, the Easter episode was an attack on William Donahue of the Catholic League more than the Church itself and how over the top he is and he makes it as he speaks for all Catholics when he goes over the top.
 
I think they set out to offend people, it gets people talking about them. Therefore letters of complaint (of which they must get huge numbers all the time) would probably be a sign of success.
 
Trey Parker has said that he regrets having made the Bloody Mary episode after all the bad reaction he received.

I’m not sure whether your letter has gone out yet, but you used the word “warm” instead of “warn” twice. You might want to change that.

I did see that one and DH and I thought about it and percieved it to be making fun of movies such as “The DaVinci Code” and how silly the store line is.
 
^^ I kinda saw that too, but, having never seen that movie… The only thing I really picked up on (again, not familiar with William Donahue) was the way Stan found out about his day, like Scott in Teen Wolf.

BUT, on that same note of making fun of something via an offensive way, and perhaps there is a pro-South Park thread that talks about this, I half-loved the pro-abortion/embryonic stem cells episode that only showed how greedy Cartman is.
