It’s so very confusing when we get into the Latria/Hyperdulia/Dulia discussion… all of these can be called worship, but the modern English understanding of worship is for God alone, rather than say, veneration or the giving of respect. Latria itself probably best sums up our modern understanding of the term.
So long as they are giving Hyperdulia to Mary, that is, veneration, it should be fine. They should not, however, be giving either Hyperdulia or Latria to the image itself, nor Latria to Mary.
That being said, I’m not the type to cry Mary or Jesus when I see a grease stain.

I don’t know if this is the real thing or just imagination. But if it brings people to Mary, who always leads us to her beloved Son…then God will use it for good.
How ridiculous. Journalists really should have a basic education about religions before reporting on religions. Anyway, I guess we’ll have to wait and see what their bishop says about the apparitions before judging whether or not their valid. And then wait and see what the Vatican has to say.
