CALIFORNIA AVE. — Santa Monica Police are investigating an alleged hate crime after officials with St. Monica Catholic Church discovered a statue of the Virgin Mary beheaded shortly before Easter services commenced.

This happened at my daughter’s school except it was St. Anthony’s head and several of Mary’s fingers at the adjoining church. Is there some significance to the head and finger pattern?

This also happened awhile ago at Our Lady of Lourdes St. Laurent Shrine. However, some teenagers shot at Our Blessed Mother (the one you see on the website is a replacement). I’m not really sure if this is true or just a “story” but all those teenagers died in a car accident.
