They are not doing themselves any favors. It actually just make them look bad, why can’t they just enjoy the Christmas cheer like everybody else.

There aren’t any in Leesburg. Although I don’t recall seeing any Hanukkah signs, either, for that matter… I only recall seeing a couple of Christian ones and a bunch of atheist and anti-Christian ones.

I don’t count myself as part of the FSM crowd, but I do find it amusing. The church of the FSM didn’t really start as an organization to fight against religion, it started as a statement against the teaching of creationism in public schools.
No, however there hasn’t been any great push to memorialize Hanukkah on the grounds of county courthouses, either. The few times I have seen a menorah displayed such it was a direct attempt to treat other religions as equally as Christianity.
Yeah, it’s not something I feel particularly exercised about either. But in some towns, a Nativity scene at the town hall or the courthouse square has apparently been a tradition for decades. I think they’d been doing so in Leesburg for 60 years or so before the town tried to put the kibosh on all displays in 2009. Under those circumstances, I can see how people who grew up in the town would be upset to be told that they can’t have the Nativity scene there anymore.
You said it’s now not the season to hate, remember. The FSM jokers are doing just that. The other poster responded saying he/she hates people who hate. You, I assume, don’t see a problem in their behaviour - not whether it’s legal or whether you agree or disagree - but that their behaviour is pretty hateful. When you mock something someone holds in respect, and with religion it’s very deep respect, think of your own mother, you are being hateful when you mock that in such a nasty way. It will cause emotional responses in the way many atheists respond when they’re told their immoral.
If a nativity scene is on government property it may be seen by more people, it reminds people what Christmas is really about.
I don’t think poking fun at something is nearly the same thing as hating. I doubt you’ll find many Pastafarians who hate Christianity or Christians. I think it is more of a 1st Amendment issue they’ve decided to have a little fun with.
I can only guess, with a probability so high that it might as well be definite.
