What I write below should be read somewhat sarcastically, but still worth some consideration.
Imagine society if science finally reveals an easily distributable drug that kills both human libido and the need for romance. After all, we are better than animals, since man was made to become like our Lord. In such a scenario, children could be still be born to their mother and father, but conception would no longer be an erotic act, rather it would be akin to a ‘do it yourself’ medical procedure.
I know that such thoughts are unwelcome in Catholic circles, but, mankind’s duty is simply to ‘be fruitful and multiply’. How we achieve this propagation remains up to us humans. We can either continue acting like hormone-driven animals, or** we can begin to imitate our Lord** and stop this rationalisation of what effictively constitues a vestige of our animal ancestry.
Bacchanalia are bacchanlia, regardless of how many limits are placed on their expression.
The technology exists or can exist. We simply have to make proper use of our knowledge, and maybe some ills of human society will finally be resolved.
