And I’m a huge fan of comedy and comedians, but Jack Black is faaaar from being “the man”. His jokes really aren’t anything. He just does stupid stuff. He’s like the Will Ferrel of Dungeons and Dragons.
Bwahaha! omg…now THAT’S a spot on comparison.
Jack Black is as funny as toe fungus, but grosser.

haha why thank you. lol yeah he isn’t very funny. and i’m pretty sure his band (Tenacious D) has a few satanic references (if not downright themes) in their music.

although i will give him credit for one line i thought was quite humorous:
"There’s also something funny about the macho-ness of rock. Like the bands that are the hardest rocking are like, ‘We’ll kick your a**, dude… with our rock.’

It’s funny because it’s true haha.
But back to the point, praying to Satan is wrong.

I find it interesting that most of the posts here are about how rude Kanye West was. And I agree that he was way out of line. But Jack Black praying to Satan is a much more serious matter. There are thousands and thousands of examples to prove that rock music and rap and hip hop are Satanic in origin. Many many rock musians have been heavily into satanism. Even if Black thought he was just “kidding around” (and I would not be surprised if he was serious in his own mind), his actions were just as serious as a person playing with a Ouija board. Black called Satan to that show and I guarantee you that he was there.

He had the whole crowd hold hands and pray. You will never see that…EVER. I thought it was pretty bold and funny move. You dont honestly think he goes home at night and prays to Satan do you? Did everyone miss the point of my post? He was portraying a CHARACTER. 🤷

I still want to know what SPC is :o

Satan’s been hanging around MTV for years, unfortunately. :sad_yes:

Not that I take Jack Black seriously, but that was over the top to have everyone hold hands in a satanic prayer. Yeah, he was making fun of the stereotype that he himself was playing - that’s his style. It’s still disturbing, and it’s dangerous to think that such humorously-intended acts are without real consequence.

I wouldn’t equate rock music with satanism, though there’s a strong tie among some. Truthfully I only know of one person who was led into satanism (technically LaVeyism) by rock, and that was by Marilyn Manson. I personally love Sevendust, who are fairly heavy-sounding but often surprisingly spiritual.

If I’d place satanism’s influence anywhere, it’d be in business. Why do businesspeople, who are making lots of money anyway, decide to break the rules and make even more money doing something entirely unethical or otherwise illegal? Ken Lay and the guys at Enron would’ve made much more money had they not resorted to creative accounting. Yeah, it would’ve taken longer, but it’s an irrational choice to do something that will eventually get you caught. The only explanation is demonic influence - it clouds judgment with something irrational, ie the love of money.

I’d also place it in politics. Just recently we learned in Missouri that our lovely Legislature is spending money on themselves like hotcakes, and have been shaking down lobbyists for donations. They’d say they wanted a retirement party for a staffer, send out an email to lobbyists, and basically ask “Who wants to pay for this?” That’s evil, the use of power to claim what is not justly yours.

Kanye went on Leno last night to perform and ‘apologized’. It was like watching a petulant 10-year-old who knew he’d been caught. Interesting how when he stole Taylor Swift’s moment, he was acting out like a petulant 10-year-old whose favored baseball team lost the game on what he felt was a bad call.

He reminds me of Liam Gallagher from Oasis - many of you here may not even remember this band. Their music had a lot of meaning to us in high school, as I think Kanye speaks to a lot of young folks today. Liam would get pouty and just leave the stage, or skip entire performances. He thought he was everything musical and important, and in reality he was a wounded individual who had trouble coping with the pressure. In the video for “Champagne Supernova” he spells out the word “HELP” with blocks on the floor of a room, kinda chilling to watch.

Kanye’s apology wasn’t so much an apology as an ‘explanation’ - you’re not supposed to talk about yourself when you apologize when you hurt someone, other than to say “I’m sorry”. He said he needed time to think, he’s spent all his time making records, he hasn’t even really thought about his mother’s passing (and when Leno mentioned it, Kanye looked small, like a child all grown up), so for Kanye’s sake as an individual I’d like to see him take time off. Seriously, like take a year off the career and just go somewhere to think and learn.

Lastly, everyone who has spoken out for Kanye has decried the VMAs for being boring and Taylor Swift’s music for being teen-boppy-Disneyesque. I’d agree with both assessments, but that’s not a reason to go mook. What Kanye did was bullying - do you think he would’ve gotten up there and taken the mic from Metallica? He picked on a physically smaller 17-year-old girl who is largely sheltered from Kanye’s world and who wouldn’t react. It was a selfish move that didn’t consider consequences or the decorum of the show or Taylor’s feelings. It was all Kanye - “I’ll give you a chance to finish” he said, when the chance to finish wasn’t his to give. Kanye’s a 10-year-old boy who feels the world’s against him even though he was given more than 99% of the world could lay claim to, and still he can’t find self-respect or self-worth so long as someone else has more than him.

Now THAT I would have liked to see. I wonder how many words he would have been able to get out before getting knocked out.

I heard on the radio this morning that Kanye West said he “knew he was wrong” when he handed the microphone back to Taylor Swift. I only have this to say to Mr. West:

Well, HELLOOOO, ding-dong, then THAT’S when you should have apologized! It might have actually meant something then, might have actually been sincere. Not waiting until you could get some more press by doing it on talk shows! What a boor!

Kanye West is a boob. He shouldn’t be on a late night TV commercial much less regular TV and the radio.

While I think Jack Black is a talentless blob who is sometimes moderately funny if reading the right lines, he “prayer to Satan” trivializes the reality of the Enemy and causes people to take Satan less seriously and downplay the existence of evil.

Oasis!
I forgot ALL about them!
Liam AND Noel BOTH would just get pouty with eachother.
Now, THAT would be a Thanksgiving dinner I wouldn’t want to go to!
Then again, they were Brits, so they wouldn’t be having one anyway…

I had only heard about Taylor Swift via the MSM, nothing about Jack Black.

I did see a little clip of Pink saying, “If I had had the mic, it would have been a different night.” I know I wouldn’t mess with her!

I dont know…I kind of believe we live in Hell and when we die, we reach our ‘nirvana’, if you will. I mean, Ive been on the forums for a few days now, and I see evil this and evil that, but it’s all pointing towards stuff everyone deals with in a day-to-day basis.

Did anyone hear Obama call Kayne a jackass? It sounds so good. The president is such a smooth talker

To bring a little humor to the situation, The Weather Channel poked fun at Mr. West this morning. 😃 I got a chuckle while getting my children ready for school.

It makes me feel better knowing that Obama has enough sense to recognize that Kanye is a jackass.

On the Weather Channel this morning, one of the producers interrupted the forecast by saying, "I just want everyone to know, Stephanie Abrams is a better meteorologist … " The whole set started cracking up. 😃
