Little by little, it’s amazing what we can begin to accept, when it is fed to us in small doses. That is how rat poison works too. It tastes kind of good, just enough so the rat will keep coming back for another bite-in spite of the faint feeling that something is going terribly wrong inside… Bob

Regarding your 1st point-
There is surely some virtue left in the media, if you can dodge your way thru the hailstorm of mindless gunk. Much of my disgust with popular TV media is the risk you have to take to watch anything, even a good show–you never know what distasteful gunk is going to pop into your living room in the next second, be it a commercial, preview, or whatever.
As a parent and grandparent, I’d rather cut the plug off than subject my family to that risk.

Regarding your 2nd point-
Now, to accumulate sin while praying the rosary ? One would have to have some VERY INTENTIONAL blasphemous intentions for that to happen. Like when people desecrate the Eucharist. I have a hard time seeing how one could accumulate sin while talking to God, all the while asking for the help of Our Lady !

BTW, I surely didn’t invent the term ‘boobtube’, has it fallen out of use these days ?
Guess we can’t call something which is so central to so many lives these days by such a derrogatory name any more. IMHO, the shoe fits, perfectly.

Hi Bob, I don’t envy your position. Raising virtuous children takes a saint.
Good idea to take the plug off the T.V. Bring back person-to-person communication!
The rosary can become a distraction/escape. Imagine the parable of the Good Samaritan and the Good Samaritan leaving the one beaten to go and say a prayer for him instead of offering ‘practical’ assistance. If we have something against our brother we are told to go and be reconciled to him first before laying our gift before the altar. Sometimes our actions can be wolves in sheep’s clothing. Discernment.

We all do the best we can, teach them, love them. Beyond that we just have to TRUST God with His plan for them.

As for the rosary being a distraction/escape, it is part of my everyday personal worship of the Trinity. As such it is a means of escape, not from but to, the presence of Christ and His Blessed Mother.

I don’t wan’t to be slanderous but Kayne West, JayZ and Beyonce (to a lesser extent) are pretty heavily in to the occult…

I’m no huge fan of celebrity stupidity but making statements like “heavily into the occult”, “scales are tipping”, “evidence insurmountable”, and worst of all “You tube it”, is dangerously stepping into the lunatic circles of conspiracy theorists. No offense but let’s not shun one type of idiocy and substitute it for another.
 
Even though me and wanderer have butted heads in the past…i have to agree with him…i seen the videos your talking about and thats just craziness…if Jay’z in the occult, then so was BIGGIE cuz thats where more than half his material comes from…but yeah…thats just someone bein’ bored n nit pickin what people say/do…

I don’t want to be a conspiracy theorist. I want to be liked. I want to be normal. Like the rest of us.

Indeed, most conspiracy theories are flawed nonsense and like you imply ‘You tube’ is a free market for all kinds of wild theories…However some of the information contained in certain videos possess kernels of truth. It is these kernels of truth which we should measure against the light dispassionately. When I talk about evidence I refer to songs such as D’evils and his sometimes explicitly occult lyrics. It seems hard to explain away.

I’d love nothing more than what you say to be true. I just find it hard to square with some of what I see/read/hear which points me to the conclusion that there is some kind of infernal influence at work…still if we pray hard enough maybe they can move in a different direction…although this one may require fasting:D

My sister listens and loves her music. I’ve heard 'em and they’re actually quite sweet! A little sappy but hey, I’ll take that over Marilyn Manson any day. :rolleyes:

Oh and if you insist that her songs are demonic, wait till you see the flak she gets from so-called “music critics” (a.k.a. fat YouTube self-proclaimed rockers who think screaming your lungs out and dissing God is the only acceptable form of music :rolleyes:).

With the modern recording studio singing is not essential. If you’ve got the looks, we can wing it. Very few have talent related to singing.
