I have been to the seminary before where I spent seven years as a religious seminarian. I went through Pre-Novitiate, Novitiate, Philosophy and one year pastoral work. There most remarkable essence about seminary training is that it forms you to stand out among your peers.
However, I left the seminary because the priest I was with during my one year pastoral work had frustrated my life to the point that I had no option than to leave the religious life painfully.
Four years after I have left the seminary, I have now come to accept the fact that I have made a great mistake for leaving the seminary. My thirst and desire for the priesthood has now become a burning zeal that I hardly do go to mass without weeping during consecretion. I always have the feeling that I have betrayed the vows I have made to my God. That I will serve in his vineyard for the rest of my life.
Having realized that priesthood is my vocation, I have made several attempts to be incorporated into the diocesan seminary but my entire attempt failed. The vocation director told me that the policy of the bishop is that he should not accept ex-seminarians. I have made several attempts to try dioceses outside my region but they said I have to be a resident in the diocese before my request could be considered.
I am humbly placing my request before to anyone who could help me in any form to get back to the seminary either as a religious or as a diocesan. For I am now 34 years and age is not at my side. I could be contacted at (agbocum@yahoo.co.uk )Thanks may God bless you all.

I heard that you can apply some other diocese. I know one priest who left seminary and later was invited back. He is a great priest. Another seminarian whom I know came in and out about 3 times until he accepted that it was God’s call for him to become a priest.

You are in my prayer.

What about going back to your religious order? If not the province where you started, what about another area?

I don’t pretend to have expertise in the area of returning diocesan or order vocations to the priesthood… however here are some ideas …hope they help a bit…even more so hope that a priest or religious might see this and have some additional information for you?

Of course one would hope that you left in good standing, and would think that you had gone through the psychological testing , meaning you are a well balanced individual …[etc] so assuming that …

1) Have you a Spiritual Director??*
If not that is the first step I would take, as he would be an invaluable resource for you.
  1. There is a new vocations website I saw on one of the forums… I have not explored it fully… but you might look at it as it seems to have some computer links that might allow for vocations questions with other religous???
    vocation.com/
3)My thoughts here are perhaps you can find out if there are orders that would accept you??

I can see you not wanting to move to a new Diocese unless they would accept you…

Hopefully a Spiritual Director or the people met here or on the vocation site might help??

I see many links to many new communities of priests and brothers here…hopefully someone can steer you in the right direction … if you truely are called?

My prayers are with you… don’t give up…My return looked bleak until about 4 monthes ago…
again do do do get a spiritual director whom you can connect with…[maybe see if an order might accept you then get a director from that order???]

Blessings of Peace and All that is Good! :gopray:
