Used to be, third order members had to get permission to marry. Such is no longer the case. Are third orders like Deacons, that can be married ONLY IF they were married PRIOR to becoming Deacons?

Almost all religious congregations in the Church have secular vocation orders for laity. Even those who aren’t attached to big orders like the Franciscans or Carmelites. One such order is the Intercessors of the Lamb in Omaha, NE. Here is their website:Do you know which Orders have a 3rd Order? I only know of the Franciscans, Carmelites & Dominicans. I wonder if there are any others.
I have looked for info regarding these. However, every site explains contradictory things. It seems to me that now that lay members of the Church are becoming more active, these will flourish. I had never heard of them until about a year ago!
I am considering…well maybe I should say, opening up to the possibility. I don’t think this is something one can choose oneself…it must come from above, as with any other vocation.
Also, I am divorced, not re-married, for over 15 yrs. My ex- remarried and has a new family.
Will divorce exclude me?
Thanks!
Divorce should not exclude you since you didn’t remarry. But that is something you would have to ask the Vocation Director of the group. Also, I am divorced, not re-married, for over 15 yrs. My ex- remarried and has a new family.
