Let’s go back to the original post. No the Shriner’s are not evil in the context of the work they do to support the hospital.

However you may perceive them they do in this case provide a valuable service
How is that the standard of morality? Just because an overall evil entity happens to provide services that are in and of themselves good does not excuse the moral worthlessness of said entity. They can cure all the sick children they want: Unless and until they reject their centuries old objective of destroying the Catholic Church they are evil. One cannot be outspokenly opposed to Christ and His Church and be morally good in any way.

If one is interested in helping sick and disabled children there are numerous other ways of doing so. One does not need to associate themselves with such an organization.

I personally would never donate time or money to anything related to something Church has condemned. Masonry is incompatible with Catholicism.
Somehow this is controversial on a Catholic Forum of all places. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I would avoid donating to anyone else except Catholic charities. Church in Need, CNEWA, Catholic Charities.

There are 2 separate and important issues here:
  1. Is Free Masonry acceptable to the Catholic Church.
The answer is NO.
  1. Is supporting the works pleasing to God, even those of a Free Mason group acceptable to God?
The answer is YES.

When I lived in the MIddle East, I donated to the Red Crescent Society to support aid to those effected by numerous natural disasters.

When I lived in Taiwan, I donated to Toasist Temples for their good works in assisting the poor.

When I lived in S.Korea, I donated to Buddhist Monks for their good works in assisting the poor.

Here, at home, I donate to St. Jude’s, and the Shriners for their good work in assisting the healing of children, and to CRS for serving the poor world wide, to Catholic Charities USA for serving those in need in the US, and to the Franciscans for their works at home and abroad in serving the needs of those in poverty.

There is no conflict. None. Zero. Zip. Nada.
