She needs to get all of those things off her property entirely.

Mary888, you don’t honestly believe that your great grandmother was a witch, do you? If you knew her, she may’ve told you she was a witch. But I expect she was kidding.

I think you all have given Miss Ayida good advice. I’m wondering is Miss Ayida is from a region or ethnicity where voodoo is common? Did you ever suspect anything weird when you were on good terms with Paul? Is he a known practitioner of voodoo?
Keep praying and keep close to the sacraments! (I assume you are Catholic).

Yes I am Catholic. At the time I’ve met him I was living in Poland (my great grandmother is Polish).I would have NEVER thought that in a country like that (very Catholic), there would be any practictioner of Voodoo. After our arguments I’ve read about it and I know it’s an African and Haitian religion that came with slaves??So I don’t know how he got into it.I don’t know if he’s known in Voodoo .I should maybe do some research on him.

And when I was on good terms with Paul, bad things stopped happening but it can be a coincidence as well like others said. But as one of the users said, “satan’s greatest trick is to make people think he doesn’t exist”.He „did” good things to me before ruining me and I had no idea at all

No she never me told me anything like that. Someone else from the family did.
It doesn’t matter, she was a fairy tale great grandma, I seriously only remember her smiling and being funny.
I still light candles for her and I hope whatever the truth is God helps her and will complete forgive her. I have an awesome icon of Theotokos with Jesus inherited from her.
When I think of her as a witch it is always as a good witch. Anyway the information I got from mouth to mouth from her about magic being based mainly on psychology coincides with what the church teaches and the priests tell us.

If you are living in a state of grace, you go to confession regularly, recieve communion, follow the precepts of the Church, then you can know that no weapon formed against you can harm you.

Satan cannot do good things for you.

Stop giving him more credit for the simple good things in life.

Go to confession, receive communion. That is the cure.

nah, just forget about him. Poland is a very Catholic country. Just close the door on the devil and keep it closed. You have that right. Jesus defeated the devil. So can you

Thanks for answering – I was just trying to figure it all out. I guess anyone can practice bad things, no matter the country.

Regardless of whether she was a witch, I think her advice to ignore curses is quite wise. Unfortunately, cursing is not confined only to those who practice voodoo.

I’ve seen Christians use prayer, in a rather occult fashion, to curse those they don’t like. For example, "May God do this to you… or May God do that to you… or May God show you his power…"

I suppose they view God as their personal henchman who will punish those they don’t like whenever asked. I think that’s quite sad and I can’t believe the Lord of mercy is please by such prayers. Indeed, one must ask. Is using Christian prayer in this was not also a practice of sorcery and a dabbling in the occult?

Psalms are used in witchcraft which was surprising to me.When I read about Vodoo it also said they begin with a Prayer to God and use crosses. But how is that Catholic when you can curse somebody?

I’m glad you have good memories of her. But remember, there are no good witches. Anyone who claims to be a witch is into things the Bible says we are not to be involved with.

Your GGM may’ve had God given gifts that made members of your family think she was a witch. But I’m sure she would rather just be remembered fondly by those she loved and who loved her.

The Bible states that we aren’t to curse anyone but to bless them instead. That is what I choose to do.

I agree with you and @Mary888 's Great Grandmother’s advice. Let us ignore curses and offer only blessings.

I agree. There are no good witches. Such practices are utterly opposed to Christ and His Church. It’s quite sad that such things exist in families. One must assume that having an “honored” relative, perhaps a matriarch, who practiced the occult may negatively impact the entire family and the spiritual practices which even Christians, in such a family, believe to be appropriate. It’s quite disappointing when I see Christians speak highly of such misguided relatives as if they were on par with true representatives of Christ.

Indeed. Clearly, some sheep do not know the Shepherd’s voice.

Additional to all good recommendations,
Jesus said “pray for the enemy”.

So pray for Paul and for any victims of the root family to have good life.
Praying for souls in the purgatory as charity too.

Recite rosary while walking around and ask for help locating the hidden source of the curse then you find it. Angels love this job.

Blessing,

Lily, it sounds like you don’t believe witches, evil, spells, etc exist. That could be useful to you so far as it goes, but evil spirits and witchcraft is very much a real thing! And, you can be harassed by evil.

I’ve seen enough and been around enough to know this is true. And, being African American with roots in the South, I have seen the effects of voodoo hexes up close and personal.

What is also true is that we can overcome and defeat ALL of it. Our Lord is far stronger than any evil.
