Vowing and Salvation

2 weeks ago I was so scared about my flight…
I prayed to God everyday
And out of the blue I thought
God If you save me from this flight I won’t do mortal sins or I’ll go to hell
It was like spontaneously and I dont know why I thought about it
I’m afraid if I do mortal sin I would go to hell
Is that a vow?

Haven’t you spoken with your Priest yet about making vows etc
 
did he tell you to stop doing it and just pray instead
 
I think that it is a very healthy “promise to try.” That is all that God asks of us. Otherwise, we are all doomed.

Relax. He is a merciful God and knows what you are made of. A contrite heart will receive forgiveness upon forgiveness. The secret is repentance and contrition.
