Most souls go to hell for the lust of the flesh- our lady of fatima
Enough books have been written about Fatima to fill a warehouse. Some are good and some are not. Many years ago, I got rid of all my Fatima books except for Fatima in Lucia’s Own Words and The Great Sign by Francis Johnston. I think I also have Father William Thomas Walsh’s book Our Lady of Fatima boxed up somewhere. But I got rid of the rest. Too much drama, too much speculation, too many tangents that went way further than the message itself.

A very good speculative movie on Fatima that seemed to disappear as soon as it was made:

I understand. If we read the actual transcripts of the cross examination of the three children and their detailed account of the apparitions themselves, they never say the Blessed Mother told them that most souls go to hell because of sins of the flesh

She did say that there are many souls suffering in Purgatory, because there is no one to pray and do penance for them.

Of course this contradicts the message of a merciful God given from other approved apparitions

This is from Fatima For Today by Fr. Andrew Apostoli C.F.R. …page 129

I trust this book, it’s highly regarded

Temporal punishment is mercy.
Catechism
1472 … unhealthy attachment to creatures, which must be purified either here on earth, or after death in the state called Purgatory. This purification frees one from what is called the “temporal punishment” of sin. …
1473 … While patiently bearing sufferings and trials of all kinds and, when the day comes, serenely facing death, the Christian must strive to accept this temporal punishment of sin as a grace. He should strive by works of mercy and charity, as well as by prayer and the various practices of penance, to put off completely the “old man” and to put on the “new man”.

OK, now I understand.

I’ve been looking at the testimony of the three children given about the approved apparitions that were investigated by Church officials… The Blessed Mother never says this in those apparitions.

This statement is from Jacinta, when she says that the Blessed Mother appeared to her alone, several times.

Are these approved by the Church ?

I’ll take a look in my book to see if they’re even mentioned.

Hell isn’t temporal punishment, but eternal, if I understand the terms correctly.

I’m not sure if they are approved by the Church, I’ll look some more, but here is some more detail on that revelation to Jacinta:

Saint Jacinta wanted to know what the sins were that caused people to go to Hell. She was favored with private visitations of Our Lady while staying at the orphanage of Our Lady of the Miracles at Lisbon. To the Superior there, Mother Maria da Purificação Godinho, the little one revealed something Our Lady told her: “The sins which lead most souls to Hell are sins of the flesh".

I wish I understood why you repeatedly hang around a Catholic forum just to deny Catholic truths. What is your purpose? This is a drive-by insult. Very low.

So I went through the book Fatima & The Memoirs of Sister Lucia, once again

They don’t include Jacinta’s private visitations, which as far as I can understand, are not part of the approved apparitions at Fatima

Also, is what Jacinta said is according to Mother Maria da Purificação Godinho alone ?

I still don’t understand how sinners end up in hell, because they have no one to do penance for them ? This doesn’t make sense from what we’re told by Jesus in the Divine Mercy apparitions, nor Lourdes.

I haven’t read all the answers here, but…
The Fatima visions are a private, approved apparition. We are not compelled to believe what is said during them.

The visions to Jacinta, and even to Lucia alone, are, I believe, private apparitions and not even approved, although some people call the visions and everything said to these people as ‘Fatima’, I never heard that the church has officially approved anything except the monthly visions between May and October, 1917, as being approved, or, in the official jargon, ‘worthy of belief’.

I know many people have benefitted from believing these things, and there’s no reason not to. But being found ‘worthy of belief’ (the highest honor the church can give a supernatural occurrence) does not make what is said during it church doctrine.

Essentially, God’s mercy and of course, confirmation of the Immaculate Conception by our Blessed Mother

I agree !

For myself, the extra things attributed to Fatima, tend to send a message of hopelessness and a vengeful God, rather than a God of merciful and love.

Yes. And, just a warning here, not going to quote anything not approved…
But, the Bayside (fraudulent) apparitions add even to those…so everyone who tries to quote them should be doubly careful!

Sad to me when adults are motivated by fear, rather than other options I believe are healthier.
Save your sympathy…this world is but fleeting and temporal, and what comes next is where the true treasure lies.

I do not love and follow Christ because of an existential gun at my head, I do so because He has created in me a new heart…an undeniable bond that trumps anything “healthier” you may be experiencing now.

And I still have miles to go on denying myself, with a happy heart out of love…

I can understand why it might seem that way but I rather see them as reminders that there are consequences to our actions and that God is a God of justice along with a God of mercy. Maybe a reminder for us for the need for the Sacrament of Penance.

The consequences for our actions are reaped because of the action itself, not because of a vengeful God and most of those consequences come about here in this life.

God’s justice is restorative justice, not retributive justice.

God didn’t send Jesus to change His mind about mankind, but to change man’s hearts about God.

The word “repent,” means to have a change of heart and mind.

We’ve changed it to feel guilt and fear pf being tortured in the next life.

When Jesus came into my life, I experienced his love and forgiveness. His love and compassion. He did not have me experience guilt and fear of Him.
