Walmart supports abortion

I am beginning to hate the color pink! Ever since my dh bought me a pink Snuggle to keep me warm, with a picture of a pink ribbon clearly on the box. I patiently explained to him…

I’ve heard recently that the new supercenter abortion mill in Dallas has seen a decline in funds and they do need to pay the debt on that building, so I’m assuming that’s why even Avon is in on the act now.

What is really annoying is to walk into a restaurant like “On the Borders” and before you can even order your first marguerita, they ask for a donation for Susan B. Komen.

I try so hard to not directly support this, but this news about Wally World is just too disheartening. I guess we all have blood on our hands to some extent or another.

American consumers have little choice in protests. Boycotts of “bad” things makes sense to me. You call it paranoia - and who cares? I surely don’t. I’ve been working in pro-life for more than 40+ yrs. Get back to me with your “opinion” when you can say the same.

I like wise have been working in pro-life for over 40 years-including stints as a counselore at a CPC and I se no reason to boycott Wal-Mart.

(where abortions are enforced by governement edict)

I don’t boycott much and when I do boycott, I ALWAYS inform the company
of my boycott and the reason(s) behind it.

For a while, I boycotted Pepsi until it changed some policies.
I still boycott Ben-and-Jerry for a jillion reasons. (This one HURTS.)

It’s always a tough call. BIG companies will get my complaints - and boycotts.

Your “bad” things are not my “bad” things. You have no authority over where I can or cannot shop. I know, you wish. I haven’t heard the Pope make a statement against Wal-Mart, Starbucks, Ford Motor Company, Proctor and Gamble, Homosexual Real Estate agents, doctors, lawyers, teachers, et al. I haven’t seen any “canon” law state such…if there were, I am sure would quote it.

I think it is great you have been in pro-life causes for more than 40+ years, keep up the good work.

Same journey different paths…not one is better or more nobler than the other…

I’ve wondered if imprisoned nuns and priest have made goods I’ve purchased.

Its a false premise. The Church doe not change its teachings. It will not chage its teachngs on the fate of unbaptized infants nor will it change its teachings on the sinfullness of homosexual behavior/marriage. Just beacuase you can find a Catholic who doesnt understand this does not make it so.

But what if a Chinese Cathoilic Family is being supported by making goods that are sold to Wal-Mart? Arent you puninshing them and threateming their ability to earn a living with your boycott?

I’m much too familiar with China in recent times to be swayed.

Best example: in the late 90s, I worked with children who had been smuggled into the US. Many younger ones and teens were from China. The largest group was from the Fujian Province. All of them were second or third or fourth born chiildren and with the rise of Fujian businesses, these “extra” children were abolished by the government. Specifically, their paperwork was abolished. Destroyed. No more education, no more healthcare, no more housing, no more food rations, no more “approved” existence in China. This is recent history in China and continues to this day. Do I care more that some Catholics in the States might lose jobs at Walmart or do I care more about horrific policies related to human existence in China? The problems in China get my vote.

yes, it sure does. Reduced hours, some pink slips…more teens without part time jobs…seniors need extra income, some of the women whose husbands left for greener pastures…need the income…the folks who have mild disabilities who count on WallyWorld as their job…they will be out of work…

then of course that affects transporation…lets trucks…less truck drivers…less warehouse space…less employees…less forklifts in the warehouses…less forklift makers…

US based makers of goods that sell to WallyWorld…it will affect them as well…not everything there is made in China.

Wow…I’m depressed…I think I’ll get in my Ford and drive to WallyWorld…then take a trip to Starbucks for an ice coffee…and top it off with a Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia.

I toured Ben and Jerry’s back in '91. There is some formula where the senior CEO doesn’t make more than a percentage of the new hire. Also, nothing goes to waste. A pig farmer buys up any ice cream or left over cream that doesn’t pass muster.

However we are talking about people worpking for Wal_mart in the US. Over 1 million peope work for Wal-Mart in the United States. And that is not counting those working for US Comanies who supply Wal-Mart These are the people who are hurt by boycotts. Its easy for us to say “they can get another Job” but with unemploymentl approaching doube digits we are puting families at risk. It is the little guy who gets hurt by boycotts.
