Wanting to have visions or speak to heavenly host

Never actively look for signs friend. The devil and his minions will use it agianst you. Just live a saintly life, be in a state of grace, and pray the rosary everyday multiple times a day. Maybe God will allow Our Lady to grant you an audience with her, maybe God will allow no such apparition to happen.

Also, you can meet Jesus in the adoration chapel and humble yourself before Him there.

I am thinking that while we pray to them the Saints and the Holy Trinity are already present there. A vision, a real one, only means the veil which covers this world is suddenly lifted and our senses see what our soul already sees. One thing though… who knows if they are pleasant or easy?
I remember that Virgin Mary got scared of Archangel Gabriel and the news were good and He was good.
 
I have wanted these things too! You are not alone. It definitely would be cool to be as blessed as Padre Pio was who saw and spoke to Jesus, Mary, and his guardian angel. And St Gemma Galgani who would have contests with her guardian angel to see who prayed with more fervor. I pray to have a least a quarter of what they experienced. I have had some cool Jesus dreams. It definitely gives the soul consolation. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with praying for this. But, remember to who much is given much is required. 🙏
 
Jesus warned against seeking such signs. Just pray without these thoughts, otherwise you will most likely delude yourself into thinking you are having visions.

It may even go so far as a recent case in Texas, where a woman strung along fellow parishioners for a couple of years, saying she had visions from Mary. But it turned out to be a hoax after she was caught on camera dropping rose petals and the floor and claiming they came from the Blessed Mother.
 
That’s interesting, because when I was a kid I had this book:

and I always really wanted to have an apparition of Our Lady!

Then when I grew up I realized that there are probably more important ways of being a good Christian than having Our Lady appear to me.

I also thought it would be pretty amazing to receive the stigmata, although I now realize that it would probably be horrible.
 
St. Ignatius says in the Spiritual Exercises NOT to desire visions etc.

Go to Eucharistic adoration. Go to mass. You will get to meet Jesus. He will be physically present to you. Not just a vision.

Discuss it with a religious superior and follow whatever they say in Holy obedience.,
 
I totally agree with you Jan…My dreams are similar to yours and once I acknowledged that and prayed to the Holy Spirit for guidance and understanding it has made such a big difference. I now feel blessed.

I can imagine how hurt you must have felt after your dads visit. Personally I think he was trying to help you as that’s something he probably wants you to work on. Maybe in some area of your life you didn’t see that and that’s what you need to change for the good of your soul. Your father has come to you once so hopefully he will come and again and it will be a happier visit 😇
 
A few cautions…first, such a wish skirts dangerously close to testing God. It is for us to seek Him, not for Him to reveal himself as we ask Him to. Accept how God has been reveled to you through scripture, other people, the mass, and from all the natural proof in the world around you. It is enough.

Second, be careful in the grandiosity of such a desire. You do not personally need to star in the story.

Try humility and quiet and focus on how you can apply your faith daily to your secular life with both feet firmly planted in reality.
